Houston hit a blistering .600. Wow... 24k, 1e. Aneli bounces back hitting a respectable .350. 16k, 3e. Hittle OTOH hit in the negative and need I say more. The Wahine did a good job holding SJSU's (arguably) best player Senftleben to a mere .095.

That's one of the quickest matches I heard for a Hawaii win.
Congrats.

Sounds like the leftsides did a great job statistically. That's very good news. With other lesser WAC teams, they're stats weren't high at all. So, it looks like, we're seeing progress.

Looks like Brandt is getting more and more comfortable with Houston, who is basically easy to set, since she likes it high and outside, not quick sets. Now if she can get more consistent in setting the middle and the right, the Wahine will be hard to beat.

nice job by the Bows! ... this is the kind of performance fans expect HI to give against WAC teams. a lot of positives in this match, and best of all, no let down after the marathon win on Saturday. now a loooong break before Nevada and Fresno St come to town. the stats are up: www.hawaiiathletics.com/media/Stats/WVball/092407.HTM

Does Brandt set her the quicker set because I can see Aneli hitting the lower quicker outside set...I think the lower quicker set is better for Aneli with her height that way she has better chance of beating the blocking...

I wonder how willing Dave is to give Mafua another chance. I like her physical prowess at the net to that of Brandt. Though you have to give Brandt the credit of setting Hawaii to where they are now.
Maybe in the middle of the season Shoji can let Hawaii run a 6-2. Well the one where the better blocker subs in for the better digger and vice versa (i.e. like in 2002 when Carey and Vakasausau shared the setting duties, to utilize Carey's blocking and MG's BR defense.). This i'd like to see as well as Ferrel getting more reps in!

And yet they are almost on the same level, with Brandt having more game experience. Mafua just needs to look at two of the three previous local setters at Hawaii, Ah Mow and Vakasausau. They over took the starter in their sophomore and junior years. Give Mafua time, she will be good.

Anyway i'm pretty interested in seeing Mafua run the offense for a legit amount of time, or even Mafua/Brandt sharing the position. Just want to see how it looks... EDIT: MAFUA SETTING WITH BRANDT IS NOT SOMETHING WHICH AT ALL WILL COMPLEMENT HAWAII DURING THIS TIME- THIS YEAR. IN CASE ANYONE STILL DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN, I WANT TO SEE MAFUA COME IN FOR JUST ONE GAME, NOT AS A FULL TIME SETTER, BUT JUST A SPARINGLY USED ONE.

I agree with BiK.....I would want to put in the players that'll get the job done.....But I also understand that letting others play can change the momentum......

I think that that amount of playing time is considered legit don't you think?
