I definetely respected Mother Theresa A & M until they denied Elizabeth Lovejoy a transfer to Princess Diana Tech last year. ::sigh::

I respect: Hawaii (very much, actually - unless they play us - in that case, they can burn in the pits of VB heck) Nebraska (I don't particularly like them, but I respect them) Cal Poly (wow, have they taken a huge leap in the past couple of seasons - I feel the same about them as I feel about Hawaii - see above) I DISRESPECT: Stanford (yes, i'm still bitter at the 2001 National Title Match) I'll just stop there... and of course, Santa Barbara - traditional rival who just happens to annoy me personally

I agree on respect for Northern Iowa. Always play a tough schedule, has a classy coach in Bobbi Petersen who is a straight shooter and great role model for her players (and manages to mother two sets of twin girls under 6!).

A few years ago, some friends and I were talking about Leland Stanford, and how you just don't see too many people who start their own colleges these days (and then name it after themselves). Well - Leland Stanford, Sr didn't actually name it after himself. He named it after his son Leland Stanford, Jr. Of course we refer to it as a "Junior Univerisity". ;D You forgot Oral Roberts and Bob Jones. There's also Johns Hopkins and Harvey Mudd. I did say, "these days..."

New Mexico State - From time to time you read about how its a pity that the WAC is a 1 pony show and how the other schools should step things up. NMSU has actually done that and may push other teams in the WAC to follow suit.

Minnesota - obvious reasons, Hebert, players have always been solid people Isn't this a violation of the guidelines laid out for the thread? I have to believe ugopher already supports Minnesota. No fair promoting your own team!

While technically I am a fan of Big Ten volleyball, I no longer have direct ties to any of the schools. Therefore,
Illinois Minnesota Penn State
listed in alphabetical order (not necessarily preference order). Huff Hall is a great place for volleyball even though it is old (and hot this time of the year). Great fans that really give the Illini an edge in tough matches. Don Hardin is a class guy. Minnesota for no other reason that Mike Hebert! The dean of volleyball -- the man is successful everywhere he goes. Russ Rose is an icon, equally on par with Hebert. I also like the fact that, as successful as he's been, he's a down-to-earth guy. Would chat with just about any fan.

As a Badger fan, I am suprised by how little respect wisconsin gets on the board. They have a wonderful coaching staff. Pete Waite is a level headed and compasionate coach, and all of his players adore him. Plus he runs a very respectable program. He is a world class coach!
