Just got back from Tenn vs KY. Kentucky had a pretty good stats board. They also had an annoying video board that only showed replays when Kentucky won the point - in super slo-mo! Other Kentucky annoyances: There was fake smoke during the home team introductions that lingered over the court delaying the start of the game until it cleared up. And strangely they have a student section sitting on chairs ON THE COURT behind the service line. The students were on the floor so close to the players that they could literally reach out and touch a player who was serving if they wanted to.
I kind of prefer Tennessee's plain scoreboard. It is volleyball specific, but shows only the games scores and a timer. I found my eyes wandering to the video screen at KY just because it was there!

When we went to kentucky last year, the band showed up to play during pregame, then inexplicably left. They also only had about 5 students in that seating area, but wouldn't let us go in there as well, which means we were stuck in their normal seats with the exceptionally crappy view.

At one of the UK matches one of the students was acting like he was all dancing up on the opposing teams server and you saw it on the jumbo tron...lol Next thing you know, a security officer escorted the young man out and the student section was very appropriate afterwards.

I've been to a fair number of arenas that use old basketballl scorebaords for volleyball.
they display player stats but only have room forr 5 plays.
Minnesesotais like Purdue is that it shows six players rather that 7 to include the libero. I believe (but could be wrong) that the scorebaord was installed for voleyball but before the libero was added to D1 volleyball.
They als have sideboards for each eam that shows the final scores for previous games. They used to have the sideboard display scrolling stats at various points of games and the match. This stopped being done a while back when then started using new stat software that was incompatitble with the sdeboards. Though I think that capability / funtionality nay have been retored this this year - I just haven't been to enough matches this year to know for sure that it's working again.

Interesting comments about the 7 player-boards... is this really needed if the scoreboard operator is good about switching the player numbers quickly? The Georgia Tech person is usually good about this...
To clear up a mis-post earlier, GT only shows: player numbers, kills, and digs. Although blocks would be nice... this at least gives the fans a pretty good idea of who is doing well.
I traveled up to UNC this past weekend... and wow. They use a typical basketball-style board over the court (it's a historical basketball gym and supposedly still used by the women's team). That board only had the game number and points. But, behind the bench, there was a court-long, but not too tall, video board. No stats... but graphics for different outcomes (kill, timeout, point carolina). And during player intros - due to its limited height - it could only show a picture of the player's eyes! Quite annoying... I'd much rather have them use it for stats!

At UF, miscreants such as this are Tasered.
