USC and UCLA could both be swept this week-end!

so could Stanford and Cal. I am interested in seeing how good UCLA and USC are. I know Stanford is great and Cal is solid. The question is, is UCLA great or solid, and I have no idea about USC. They are undefeated, but struggled against anyone who was any good.

I would guess that UCLA and Cal are playing at a pretty close level, but Cal has always had problems with the Bruins. I think Cal loses that one. UCLA never seems to beat Stanford, so I think the same will hold true in this outing. Stanford will come out unscathed this weekend. They are battle tested and have enough veteran leadership to keep them steady. I'd say that USC and Cal is a toss up. The Women of Troy have a lot of freshmen in key positions so it will critical that they hold up their play.

Not sure how you come up with UCLA and Cal at the same level. UCLA. USC is a total mystery in my opinion. I'm going, Stanford 2-0, UCLA 1-1, USC 1-1, Cal 0-2.

I think the UCLA game will define the remainder of Cal's season...

If Klineman plays like she did at Cal, then Stanford would come out 2-0. Cal has a chance of beating UCLA and USC. USC has a better chance than UCLA of beating Stanford.

There'll be a lot of talented players in the Bay Area this weekend, but I believe Klineman is the youngest of the lot... 1990 Capricorn

For USC, passing will have to be huge this weekend. Also, one of the OHs have to have a big game to support Kaczor, and I would like to see Roleder starting (in place of Gysin) as she plays better at the net hitting and blocking (especially in controlling Stanford's rightside and slide attacks).
One thing that USC has this year is their service game. With tough serves from Kazcor, Urango and Garrett, that could throw off Stanford's passing and help USC to blunt Stanford's attacks from the middle.

I like these matches because there isn't too much of a home court advantage given the short flying time, similar climates, gym familiarity, and lots of USC and UCLA fans in attendance. When Stanford and Cal head down to SoCal it is pretty much the same. When these California schools travel up to Washington, its a whole different ball game.

6'2 Top 10 basketball recruit, Nneka Ogwumike of Houston, TX (Cypress Fairbanks) will be on her official visit to Stanford this weekend; believe she will attend Friday's volleyball game, but not positive.

Can't wait to catch Klineman in action - only saw her on tv once in a high school match and she was awesome. I'm also pretty stoked to see Brynn and Foluke play again. Looking forward to high quality vball.
