It's nice to see Faucette is actually human, however Hooker certainly picked up the slack.

Very happy with Destinee Hooker's performance in this match, she played really well. Good distribution of sets all around by Moriarty.....overall good game for the Long Horns. Paolini continues to be very steady...which is very important somewhere down the line.....especially in the NCAA tournament.

Happy to see Engle back! Hooker is just off the hook!
Question to those in the know: both Engle and Top recruit Kelly Murphy are left-handed setters that can both terminate. How would you compare their level of play? Just curious, since I've never seen Kelly Murphy play.

You'll find out next year when Murphy is a Longhorn.

It looks like Texas figured out how to block in this match. If they keep that going, they will be really dangerous.

Strange that the usually accurate Magee was not so accurate...but the blocking is GREAT!

Glad to see Engle return and immediately put up lots of kills and blocks. In another two weeks this will be a different team. It looks like all 4 of Texas Tech's aces and 4 of UT's service errors were in game 2. We need to send Heather Cox down there to explain to them The Rules of the Service Game. Texas blocking has been much better this year. Granted TTech isn't that great of an attacking team, but in the past they've often failed to control the net even against lesser teams. I think some of that had to do with the rotations where they had Moriarty and Acevedo both in the front row - 5'10" on the right AND the left, that's an attacker's dream. Here are conference numbers so far: OPPONENT.......UT BLOCKS - OPP. BLOCKS OPP. HITTING Texas Tech.........20.0 - 8.0 .047 Iowa State.........10.0 - 4.5 .198 Missouri...........10.5 - 6.0 .229 Nebraska............3.0 - 7.0 .400
About Magee: The middles always have the hardest job adjusting when the rotation changes, and I wonder if that was the case here. If you look at the play-by-play, five of her errors came in game 1, but she also closed out that game with back-to-back kills. After that she only had one more error, in game four. Take out that bad string of attacks in game 1 and you've got your regular dependable Magee. Her 11 block assists are what made it possible for Destinee and Ashley to rack up those big block numbers. She and Ashley teamed up for 4 blocks in game 3 alone. By the way, it looks like Jen Doris was only subbed in for one rotation in game 2. You have to know Jerritt is going after Murphy as hard as he can. Adding her to the lineup and running a 6-2 means never having anyone shorter than, um, 6'2" on the front row, and having a powerful attacker in every position except libero.

Not so fast, Jerritt is going after a 6'8" attacking Libero from Tonga.......
