Even though matches have only been completed through Friday, it will be hard-pressed for a player to do better against top competition than the following Stanford players who in back-to-back wins over the nation's #4 and #5 teams accomplished the following:
Bryn Kehoe (S): 16.0 assists/g; 4.0 digs/g; 1.67 blocks/g Foluke Akinradewo (MB): 5.0 kills/g; .596 hitting %; 1.67 blocks/g; 6.25 points/g Alix Klineman (OH): 5.2 kills/g; .275 hitting %; 4.8 digs/g; 6.25 points/g Cynthia Barboza (OH): 4.3 kills/g; .278 hitting %; 4.3 digs/g; 5.1 points/g

Well, if Purdue beats Penn St tonight, I'd think one of their players should be in consideration

Indeed, hard-pressed does not mean impossible, and ... assuming the player(s) performances against PSU and against TOSU were both exemplary.

Not sure why you would include Barboza and Klineman. Nice matches vs good teams, but they wouldn't sniff Foluke much less other great performances nationally.

Laura Kremer of Iowa .285%, 5.125 pts/game, 1.25 blocks/game
Michigan match - .349, 4.2 kills/game, 5.8 pts/game, 1.6 blocks/game
This for a team that has limited offensive options.
I know she doesn't play in the Pac 10 but give the girl some love!

Really difficult to find better performances than Bryn and Foluke - especially against top 5 opponents. Bryn was just amazing all-around over the weekend and Foluke... scoring machine!

Yeah, tough to play well when you have no one else on the team for the opposition to focus on.
Kehoe's biggest concern is who to set next to keep people happy.

Just interested - anyone know of any other stats better than Akinradewo's this week?

Just interested - anyone know of any other stats better than Akinradewo's this week? Better stats? Yes the entire Nebraska team against Baylor. High was Kori Cooper 12 kills @ .706 with 2 solo blocks and 2 BAs. Just answering your specific question. Folouke's performance against 2 top-5 opponents should indeed garner her NPOW.

Entire Nebraska team? Wow, everyone must have hit at least 0.600. I can't believe that someone said Stanford is way ahead of Nebraska at this point.

Hey, the votes aren't in from the Western states yet! Don't declare a winner so prematurely.

Hey, the votes aren't in from the Western states yet! Don't declare a winner so prematurely. Florida is also still tabulating! Something about hanging chads. (Sorry!)

NU vs Baylor: Cooper: 12 kills @ .706 Stalls: 5 kills @ .571 Houghtelling: 12 kills @ .526 Mueller: 4 kills @ .500 Pavan: 13 kills @ .476 Larson: 8 kills @ .462 Team: 57 kills @ .500 By comparison, Akinradewo vs UCLA: 12 kills @ .500; Team: 57 kills @ .313

Impressive! I was actually looking at the two-match stats not just the UCLA stats. This is what was previously posted
Foluke Akinradewo (MB): 5.0 kills/g; .596 hitting %; 1.67 blocks/g; 6.25 points/g
And to think these stats were against #4 and #5.
