Illinois, Minnesota and Penn State Earn Weekly Conference Honors
Illinois' DeBruler named Player of the Week; Minnesota's Tan and PSU's Wilson share defensive accolades.

Laura DeBruler, Illinois

DeBruler earns the first weekly award of her career after helping the Illini get back to .500 in conference play. The freshman averaged 4.9 kills on the strength of a .333 hitting percentage as Illinois defeated Michigan State, 3-2, and Northwestern, 3-0, on the road. Against the Spartans on Friday, DeBruler put down five kills in Game 3 as Illinois charged back from a 2-0 deficit. On Saturday versus the Wildcats, the Downers Grove, Ill., native tallied 20 kills on a career-high .487 hitting average to lead the Illini to the sweep.

Tan takes home the first weekly accolade of her career, averaging 6.7 digs per game as the Golden Gophers swept Iowa and No. 11 Michigan last week. The sophomore saved 16 in three games versus the Hawkeyes before digging 24 against the nationally ranked Wolverines on Sunday. The Safety Harbor, Fla., native also recorded two service aces and six assists as the Minnesota defense held opponents to a .087 hitting mark on the week.

Wilson receives the first weekly honor of her career after averaging 3.2 blocks per game as Penn State swept Indiana and Purdue on the road over the weekend. The freshman set a career high with eight blocks (1 solo, 7 assist) against the Hoosiers on Friday and then matched the total (2 solo, 6 assist) versus Purdue on Saturday. Wilson also averaged 3.6 kills per game on the strength of a .536 hitting percentage, including a career-high .889 clip on Friday.
