So, I'm watching the "September Recap in Big 10 sports" on the BTN, and they're handing out these fake awards, right?
Narrator says, "Best Hit," and we see a clip of Megan Hodge pounding one to the floor. I thought, "Oh, that was good exposure." Then, the douchebag goes, "No, I mean, a real hit, and we see a clip of football.
What a bunch of freaking disrespectful bastards.

I know the B10 network is still in it's infancy but I'm very unimpressed by it. Not so much it's game coverage but it's lack of original programing. A 1/2 hour a week for women's sports?

The BTN is all about promoting football which is one reason I have a hard time getting behind it. Heard an ad on the radio this morning promoting the IN/MN football game being televised on the BTN this Saturday. Nothing about the MN/OSU match on Friday night.

I warned everyone about this. The BTN is going to turn into ESPNU, which, while it has myriads of possible things to show on Saturday nights, will still opt to show a rerun of a football game played earlier that afternoon that was broadcast on ESPN 2.
Instead of celebrating and promoting a diversity of sports (including sports where the Big Ten teams are among the best in the country), they will focus on lower tier football and basketball. Now, it seems, while denigrating those other activities.
I knew this was coming.

It probably won't change until we get "The Ocho". Then we'll be balls deep in volleyball.

I've got to say I'm gravely dissapointed w/the Big 10 networks lack of coverage of womens volleyball. Especially since the Big 10 (11) went out of their way to promise coverage of ALL sports. I understand that football is the $$ making engine which for the most part funds everything else, just feel this particular television experiment is missing the boat at elevating other sports.

What I'm worried about is if this Big 10 network precludes other entitites from producing televised matches for big 10 volleyball. Last season, for example, i was able to see several Minnesota matches through FCS. I think they were FSN and Comcast produced. I know ESPN2 is still carrying a couple late season matches on a truncated and tape delayed basis, but it'd be a loss if the network had some sort of exclusivity deal while only producing a scant few matches.

I'm sure the BTN's hope is to take over all programming except for some football and basketball games vs. selling the rights to ESPN and FSN. Many of the conference football and basketball games, in my opinion, will continue to be sold to ESPN and ABC to provide national coverage for the conference. This, to me, would be the worst case scenario - BTN keeps all the rights to sports like volleyball, has a limited schedule to those sports and/or tape delays them. What I don't understand is why they are showing a replay of the MN/OSU match on Saturday and a tape delay of the Purdue/Illinois match on Monday. Why not show the Purdue/Illinois match live on Saturday? If tape delay and replays are what they plan to show it isn't that much different than what ESPN2 and FSN do now.
