I was sure I read here at Volleytalk she was going to attend Ohio State. Today in a canadian article about her sister Sarah, it states Becky will be heading to Kentucky: [glow=red,2,300] Her parents are both 6-4. So is Becky, a member of the Canadian junior national team who's off to the University of Kentucky next year on, naturally, a volleyball scholarship.[/glow] www.thestar.com/Sports/article/262474When did this come about?

She changed her mind after the Ohio State coach announced he was retiring at the end of the season.

When Jim Stone announced his retirement she reconsidered and chose Kentucky instead.

And I'm figuring there weren't a lot of scholarships left to be had by that point

Just curious...why out of all schools did she choose Kentucky? They aren't a powerhouse or anything...and in comparisson to her sister how good is she?

I'm still waiting for the question for Becky. I think she is, too.
As for Kentucky, you have to think the family liked Skinner -- from Sarah's contact, etc.

I go back to my other comment: how many schools still had scholarships available?

Seeing as there are a number of unsigned stars; Murphy, Murrey, Adams, Ward, Jupiter, etc. I believe a lot of big time programs have scholarships left. Stanford has one, probably Cal, and perhaps USC out here on the West Coast, maybe Washington and UCLA waiting for Murrey to decide. I think Nebraska and Texas aslo, again waiting for a star. Could be wrong on the last two, however.

It is my understanding that Kentucky was Becky's second choice after OSU.

Plus, there are programs always willing to "find" a scholarship when they need one. You know the drill:
"Everyone with a scholarship take one step forward! Uh, Suzy, not so fast."

In the meanwhile, I am sure that Ohio State's recruiting will take a serious hit in the short and maybe even medium term.

Actually that is a page from the John Cook school of recruiting....it's okay - we'll just ask Suzy to "gray shirt"!!! ;D
