^i think it was basically a toss up between morrison and mcginnis in '04 as the best non-canadian in the class. mcginnis ended up with a few more votes.

I know that in 2005, Cynthia Barboza was #1 and Jordan Larson was #2....I'd say, she's doin better than Cynthia is, but others may disagree. 2006 Megan Hodge #1 and Janet Okobaaga was #2. Not living up to her rankings. 2007 Alix Klineman #1 and Texas freshmen star Juliann Faucette #2, now she's living up to her ranking and more. Juliann Faucette is amazing!.......Don't know about the rest of the years..... Janet is "not living up" to her ranking because a) she was injured for much of her freshman year, not to mention the seven months prior to it and b) she's playing behind Akinradewo and Girard. She was training to be an opposite last season when she was able to play, but Dunning switched her back to her normal position. Once she gets more playing time, I think she'll "live up" to her billing.

Nu'u was ranked 2nd...WOW...so much for rankings. Nu'u has offers from other schools ranked higher but decided to stay in state to play with her sister I believe.

Nu'u was ranked 2nd...WOW...so much for rankings. It also could have had to do with the fact that Colorado really didn't have any real hitters. If she had gone to USC, I think that she would have developed further, not to mention would have had the hitters to put down her sets. Regardless, she got a free education at a good university and got to play with her twin sister. Perhaps winning or getting individual accolades weren't all that mattered to her.

Nu'u was a 3rd team AA last year. She probably got it because she led her team to the only victory over Nebraska

Thanks for the clarity and for the corrections in 2001. I didn't know McGinnis was #2 in 2004. That means Florida really had a freaken kick a$$ recruiting class that year.

Actually the times Janet has come in this season, she has done very well and finally showed her potential. Tonight she actually played 2 games, with Girard only playing one. I think if she continues to develop this season, she will be seeing more playing time when Franci is not showing her colors. Even against UCLA, in the one tight game, Dunning put Okagbaa in right at the end for the last couple points, and the first play she had a very solid block to put stanford back in the lead.

I thought it was Gysin that year. Can't confirm. Given that Pavan is from Canada, who was top US recruit that year? Gysin was 5th, top US recruit that year was McGinnis followed by Morrison, Hampton then Gysin

Yeah, they also got Hampton who was ranked 4th that year, I remembered Tawa even mentioned that she could have contended for the top spot if she did not have knee injuries. That Florida class was ranked second behind Nebraska mainly because of Pavan and Stalls. Because Stalls was a late addition to the 2004 class, she was not ranked, however based on her credentials, she could end up easily in the top 5 if she was included in the rankings.

These are the #3 recruits in their respective classes and some of them did better than the #2 players
2001 - I cannot remember who though Burdine is #4
2002- Sam Tortorello (PSU) (multiple AAs and is she the all time assist leader at PSU?)
2003 - Natalie Uhart (Kansas) - started at LBSU but the 2003 is the weakest class
2004 - Christal Morrison (Washington) - already a 3 times AA and on her way to her 4th
2005- Nicole Fawcett (PSU) - already a 2 times AA and should be a 4 times AA
2006- Ashley Engle ( Texas) - 2nd team AA as a Freshman
2007 - jennifer Doris (texas) - just lost her starting position with the return of Engle and Paolini took her spot in the middle

Was there ever a #1 or #2 recruit that did not start for the respective college?

Okogbaa obviously did not played much dued to her injuries and the depth in her team
if I remember correctly, Richards did not start immediately, she broke into the lineup after a few matches
Nuu also did not set much her freshman year as there was a more experienced setter on Colorado team
and of course the controversial case at Florida when Wise decided to use McGinnis though Moscovic did started some of the matches in the beginning
