I had no problems with the OU video, which I switched to after realizing the MU/NU video wasn't worth the attempt. The resolution was good and the camera mostly followed the ball well. I'm curious to see the box score. Texas looked to be continuing their focus on blocking. In the middle of game three it seemed they got four blocks within five or six rallies.

My broadcast kept freezing up. Can't stand it. OU passing looked ugly. Can't have that happeneing especially against a top 10 team. This is officially the half way point of the Big 12 season. OU must have really been bad passing against UT as they only had 26. At NU they did a lot better getting 49. That's probably the difference right there in the score differential between the 2 matches.

I just noticed that Texas had zero reception errors. That is pretty amazing considering their bad passing held them back the last few years.

Those sideout %s for Texas are pretty amazing. You won't lose if you're that good at siding out.

Texas still has to take care of business at Mizzou on Saturday before they start thinking about the rematch against Nebraska . . .

Texas takes game 3 easily 30-21. Holy hitting percentage batman. Paolini 11 kills 0 errors for .733 Texas as a team hits .418 They hold Oklahoma to .135 [glow=red,2,300]Weird how the Longhorns matched up to OU better than the Huskers. I was expecting the opposite.[/glow] So barring some disaster, Texas is all but gauranteed 2nd place in the conference. Now Wednesday's game really means something, because if the Longhorns pull off the upset, Nebraska may not end the season in sole possession of the Big12 title. It's also weird that Texas was without Hooker and Engle at the last meeting in Lincoln. And did I mention the Huskers had no answer for a freshmen OH at the net...... It's kinda weird huh?....LOL!.... Nebraska will not win in Austin and that's a fact people........GO LONGHORNS!......

I wouldn't say it that emphatically, but the Longhorns winning is not a dream come Wednesday. Our ladies have only improved since they last played Nebraska. Engle and Hooker will play, and pretty much every player has improved. Our gym will be rocking and the students will be doing their part to cheer on our ladies, I promise you that! The Longhorns still have to get past Missouri, which has suddenly figured out how to play again and Columbia is a tough, tough, tough place to play. But they'll get a nice few days of rest and be ready to play. w00t!!!! I can't wait for next Wednesday!!! Oh, and what is the deal with Restrepo getting carded at what seems like every match?!? Boy's gotta chill...

Texas is scary if they can pass well and avoid making a lot of errors. I guess Paolini is much improved this season. Heck of a night from her.

And the Huskers haven't? No one said the huskers have not improved. Texas is a completely different team and running different offense than the original 3 losses early in the season. Penn State and Nebraska were much further along than Texas at that time. The improvement is much more noticeable in Texas as a team and in individual players. By no means will this next match be a cake walk for either team but it should be a fun one.

No. Still, the Huskers are probably the better team on paper, but the fact still remains that when Texas plays Nebraska this time around, Texas gains two All-Americans and loses nobody from the last match. The Huskers are pretty much the same team. So yes, the Huskers haven't improved like the Longhorns since the last match. Besides, they're playing so well, there's really onely one place for them to go...

I don't want to summon the ghost of a certain poster who always showed up in the past whenever Moriarty was discussed (but this year he seems to have disappeared - maybe his daughter graduated, whoever she may have been), but one thing I have noticed is that when Engle has to take the second ball on a broken play, her location and arc are extremely consistent no matter where she is on the court. She routinely puts up killable balls from position 1 to the leftside hitter when the dig stays deep right. And, she never doubles. I don't mean to disparage Moriarty at all - in fact her hard work has done more to build their program in the last four years than any other player, and Texas will have a tough beginning to their season without her. Still, one area Texas has been historically weak before this year (and where Nebraska 2006 and 2007 has been very strong) is the transition game. Depending on how team dynamics go in 2008, I think it's very possible that Texas could quickly take and hold onto the #2 spot all season, maybe even jumping to #1 briefly if Stanford struggles with their new setter system. Engle, Hooker, Paolini, Faucette, and Doris return. Adding Yogi and Kocher to replace Jennings and Moriarty(and possibly Rachel Adams to replace Magee) has to put this team in the preseason top 3.
