Game 1 was very close, but Stanford won 31-29. If Arizona had not served out ten times (five more than Stanford), they would have won.

Stanford won Game 2 fairly easily, 30-24.

It's tough to win at a home court in Pac-10. Arizona is a tough team. I do think Stanford will sweep this match but they do need to play better than this when it's NCAA time. Bryn setting's efficiency isn't too high at the moment...0.278

Fishburn was helped off the court into the locker room at the end of Game 2 and did not come out for Game 3. Sigh.

We'll see how this will affect Stanford defensive play.

After a Girard-Ailes collision... Girard is limping a bit... Stanford has lost some momentum. 12-12, TO Stanford.

Stanford rallies late in Game 3 to win 30-28, closing out the match with a 5-0 run. A former Tree was trying to sing "Hail, Stanford, Hail" behind Rebecca Harlow's post-match summary... once a Tree, always a Tree.

P.S. Jess Fishburn came out of the locker room on crutches with her left ankle wrapped.

The top of the Pac 10 has been stronger in the past, but this year even the bottom of the Pac 10 seems to be composed of fairly strong squads.

It did not sound like the defense suffered in game 3, but it did sound like the Stanford offense is not hitting on very many cylinders. Is it Bryn's sets? Tentative hitters? Sounded like every other offensive play across the net was a tip. Not good against a pretty marginal AU team.

This year's AU team has taken some lumps, but they are not marginal. In most other conferences they would be mid to upper tier. The PAC just happens to be tough every match and if you are a young team it makes it tough for you to win if you are not consistent. I think Stanford thought they would come in and crush the, but they are a better team than the ones Stanford has crushed this year.
