Enough is enough.
Arizona outside hitter Brooke Buringrud apparently is tired of losing.
After falling 31-29, 30-24 and 30-28 to third-ranked Stanford (7-1, 18-1) in a Pac-10 match Thursday night, the junior made a bold prediction following the loss.
"We're not losing [Friday]," Buringrud said of the match against No. 9 California on Friday at McKale Center. "There is no doubt in my mind we are going to win. No doubt.
"There is no doubt in my mind we are going to turn this season around."
Arizona (2-6, 12-8) has lost three straight matches and four of its past five. The Wildcats have been swept in their past three matches, marking the first time that has happened since 1992.
"Stanford came in, and they were just going through the motions," Arizona coach Dave Rubio said. "The thing that upsets me the most is that they went through the motions and still beat us in three.
"The scores were close, and we put ourselves in position to win a game, and yet we didn't," he added. "I can tell you we played well, but we play well all the time. The reality is that they have to play well when it's time to win a game, and we're not doing that."
Rubio was disappointed with the Wildcats' play down the stretch in Game 3 before a crowd of 984 at McKale.
"We were up 24-20 in Game 3, and we had all the momentum. The next thing you know, it's 24-24," he said. "It was the same old story for us."
Arizona also had a season-high 16 serving errors.
"Ten missed serves in the first game is not going to cut it," Tiffany Owens said. "We did better the second and third games, but I feel that was our downfall."
Owens finished with 11 kills. Junior Randy Goodenough had a team-high 12 kills.
"You can see we're not that far away," Rubio said. "Yet it really doesn't matter. There is no consolation in coming close. We have to play better from 25 to 30."
Cal rallied to beat Arizona State 3-1 (27-30, 30-26, 30-20, 30-26) in Tempe on Thursday night.
The Bears were led by senior outside hitter Angie Pressey, who had a career-high 26 kills.
