No seriously, why is Carico bringing the ball almost the full 3 meters off the net for nearly every set? Is USC that physically overmatched that Mick needs them to get so far back they can roll around the block? and yet, Mick still has four more DI titles to his credit than OverandUnder...hmmmm

USC should definately drop in the rankings now They lack a lot of offense I agree...not a top five team with the current lineup...but show me what team would be after not having three starters in the lineup....

Wht happened to Tennant? is she hurt? the USC release has been listing her with a back injury and week-to-week...I'm guessing if she hasn't played yet, she probably won't the rest of the year unless someone else knows more...

I think she red shirted at the start of the season AFAIRemember so she wasn't really part of the starting line up in the fall.

Huskies were red hot.
But..that freakin' hypnotist was a major buzz-kill. Whoever the marketing whiz is who came up with that idea...needs a vacation.

No seriously, why is Carico bringing the ball almost the full 3 meters off the net for nearly every set? Is USC that physically overmatched that Mick needs them to get so far back they can roll around the block? I'm not a coach nor a vball player...just a regular fan but here goes my 2 cents on this. USC's hitters are not over the block hitters, especially with the current OHs on the floor. Gysin is more like 6 feet or even less (and not 6-1 as listed) and I believe her jumping ability has been affected by her various injuries (which I think dated back to HS). Urango is like 5-10. Even Copenhagen is not an over the block hitter. Possibly the only one with the athleticism to do that is Roleder.. In past matches, when the sets were too tight, Copenhagen and Gysin often times tried to hit the balls right through and into the blocks, and these players do not have a wide repertoire of shots. Their main shots tend to be cross-courts most of the time, not line, rollshot and even tips were very rare. The only player whom I have seen been effective with tight sets is Kaczor and you can see that when there are well formed blocks, she would then hit the rollshot or tip or hit across her body for line shots or just tooling the blocks. Gysin and Copenhagen lack the shot making abilities of Ross and Burdine. So my guess is that the coaches design the sets to be off the net, and Carico is doing just that.

I think that being so deep into the season already, Kelli Tennant is going to redshirt, especially with the depth at the MB being sufficient at the moment (with Bishop and Williams).
