Cal's 2nd half will be very tough....just finished the road trip to the Arizona schools; on the road again next week facing USC & UCLA. On the road to Washington; and finishing up the regular season on the road to Stanford. They will need to stay healthy and bring their A+ game for the remainder of the year...

In Cali regular seasson high school ends on halloween; playoffs after that. Assuming Washington has much the same schedule there shouldn't be too much in the way of high school playoffs left when Stanford comes to Washington. It is the weekend of the State Finals. The 2A/3A/4A finals are in Kennewick (3-4 hour drive from Puget Sound area). The lower divisions are either in Yakima (2.5 - 3hour drive) or Spokane (5-6 hour drive). So, if you school makes the State finals, you can't go to these matches.

I actually have preferred the tri-cities events because of their central state locations.

Where do you find out when they will be? What divisions might be in Spokane? That's not too far from me. I actually have preferred the tri-cities events because of their central state locations. I was wrong. I forgot that consolidated all of the lower divisions at the Sun Dome and nothing is in Spokane this year. Here is the breakdown: Nov 8-9 1B Girls State Volleyball Championships - Yakima SunDome 2A Girls State Volleyball Championships - Toyota Center, Kennewick Nov 9-10 2B, 1A Girls State Volleyball Championships - Yakima SunDome 3A, 4A Girls State Volleyball Championships - Toyota Center, Kennewick As far as the "central location" - of the 16 teams in the 3A and the 16 teams in 4A divisions, a grand total of 6 come from the central and eastern portion of the state . While the majority (or at least a lot) of the lower divisions are in the central and eastern part of the state, the vast majority of the 3A and 4A schools (26 of the 32 places at State) are in the puget sound basin. As such it might make sense to have State in the east once in a while, but it makes very little sense to do it on a standing basis. If they were going to use Kennewick and Yakima in perpetuity (which is what they are talking about) then it would actually make more sense to have 2A/3A/4A in Yakima and 1B/2B/1A in Kennewick from a logistical standpoint.

^speaking of the tri-cities, what schools are now 3A and 4A there? that conference is so confusing now.
I'm guessing it's like this:
4A Pasco Richland Southridge(?)
3A Kennewick Kamiakin Hanford
Is that right?
I'm guessing Davis, Ike, Walla Walla, and Wenatchee are 4A. And Eastmont and Moses Lake are 3A for the rest of the conference. Like I said, confusing conference, especially for one that was so good in all sports when it was the Big 9. Why'd they mess with it?

It's too bad the Huskies will host Stanford on Thursday rather than Friday, the crowds have been significantly smaller on Thursday nights since it is a school night. And if the first encounter was any indication, the November 8th match figures to go late into the night. But then again, the way the Huskies have played at home this season, may be not.
