(big snip) You're right, Larson would hold her own on any team...but I was refering to a Nebraska fan saying that she would be MVP on any other team, and that, I think, is very premature. Larson would still be an All American, but I think Stanford, Washington, Penn State, Texas, etc. would/are fine without her You are really anti-Nebraska aren't you? When Sarah Pavan and Jordan Larson went heads up in the CSTV Beach Tourney against Cynthia Barboza and Bryne Keyhoe, who won? Oh, that doesn't count because that was "beach"? Jordan Larson has come out on top of EVERY head to head match up between Barboza and Larson. This is just another alternate reality you are living in. No I'm not anti nebraska... I just don't kiss the feet they walk on. I give credit to where credit is due. Every player previously mentioned (Barboza, Akinradewo, Klineman, Morrison, Mussie, Kazcor, Pressy, Spicer, Hooker, Engle, Hodge, Fawcette, etc.) are really good players and that's why I think that to label Larson as an automatic MVP on the other top teams doesn't give enough credit to the other top players in the country who have also earned their accolades. Are YOU anti-everyone else? And Pavan/Larson over Barboza/Kehoe DOES count, but the matchup isn't the best. You have two excellent hitters and defenders in Pavan and Larson vs an excellent hitter/defender and setter/defender in Barboza and Kehoe. The difference was that Pavan/Larson is a double threat while Barboza/Kehoe is a single threat... and volleyball isn't JUST simply about comparing one person to another in a matchup to delcare who's "better". Using that logic, Morrison is much better than Larson AND Houghtelling because in the time that they went head to head Morrison had a much better match. I personally don't believe that Morrison is head and shoulders better than Larson or Houghtelling, I think that they are at the same caliber, but you're logic would declare Morrison the dominant player. It's stupid to argue over this. I think that it's premature to label Larson as MVP of every other team besides Nebraska, you don't. lets agree to disagree

I'm still waiting to hear why someone thinks Hotel and Larson will switch positions...I don't understand why they would mess with a line up that's working at this point.

I think it's a waste of time to have these kinds of arguments. Larson's better than...Morrison's better than...whatever. Larson's accomplishments would be the same on any team, and greater if she was on a team in which she was heads and shoulders above everyone else.
Next year will be a great year to truely get a gauge on Larson, when Pavan , Stalls and Houghtelling are gone, and Larson no doubt becomes a focus of our offense.

The argument is amusing, but if we're talking about Larson's role on another major program, why are you two going on about comparing Barboza and Larson? Dunning is a smart man. If Larson were at Stanford right now, she and Barboza would both be on the court at OH. Klineman would either be third on the depth chart or would switch to OPP to use her height at blocking. When Stanford has struggled this year it has been due to problems with passing/defense. And who has John been subbing out when she goes to back row? Not Barboza. Larson wouldn't be MVP in Palo Alto, but then Stanford would truly have the best all-around OH tandem in the nation.

Houghtelling has outplayed Larson offensively in a big way. Your L1 should be the better offensive player. Hotel is hitting a higher PCT, a higher Kill pct. It only makes sense. Changing your two lefts affects very little other than serve receive patterns. As the same three pass all three rotations it isn't a big deal at all. The only downside would be Larson feeling coaches have lost confidence in her attack. I am sure they will give her plenty of time to work through, if she doesn't you would be crazy not too.

If her offense has dropped, then she needs to feel the coaches have lost confidence in her attack. If she's a good player (and I believe she is), after an initial upset reaction, she will push harder to prove she deserves her position. If she doesn't have the inner strength to stand up to reality and turn up her competitive intensity (which I don't believe is the case), then someone needs to go ahead and email Lang Ping that there's a name she can cross off her development list.
