Badgers really need more blocks from Reineke, however.

Harmotto 16 kills ZERO errors. Pretty impressive on the road vs UW block. She had one error....the refs were just the only ones out of 10,000 people who didn't see it. Even more impressive was Reineke hitting .591 with no errors against the Penn State block. Great game by TR....it showed why she's one of the best middles in D1.

Badgers really need more blocks from Reineke, however. She had at least one more Ruffy, and a huge one at that, but the zebras didn't see it. Still, I would have liked to see her in at least the 5 or 6 range in this match.

Reineke didn't have a very good day blocking, mainly because Hodge had a good day hitting, even with some good floor defense against her. She is scary good.

The down official had the best look, but will most likely claim he was watching the net. The up official is weak anyway and I would not expect him to make the call with the exception that he is normally a homer. I don't know the up guy, but Hemelgarn (R2) is solid. Marty Prochko was the R1. I won't comment on this match (match started late on BTN and I didn't get it all recorded), but I will say this. Marty is probably the best official I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Ever. If I were coaching, I'd feel at ease knowing he was on the stand. And I'm sure most of the coaches in the Big 10 feel the same way. He's VERY well-respected. Just saying.

I've probably seen him before, but his name doesn't ring a bell for me. I know I haven't seen him this year (I've been trying to get to know more of the officials this year)

Prochko is the thin white-haired ref.

Prochko is the thin white-haired ref. I thought that was Joan Powell?

After seeing the match tape delay i was not that impressed with Wilson. She had 12 points to Harmotto's 22. I did see Walbridge not in warmups on the sidelines so I guess she is not injured. Not quite sure why Rose would sit out a consistent player in her senior year. I guess i was expecting to see more from Wilson and I thought Walbridge was injured.

Big ten, I would suggest looking at Wilson's performance this year. Her production and impact has been as good or better as anything Wallbridge has done in her career. I love Wallbridge, and her contribution to PSU is acknowledged. Wilson is a freshman, and when you put a freshman in a match of this magnitude, in front of a crowd like that, just what is it you expect? PSU is thinking of one thing and one thing only, and that is winning a National title. To beat Nebraska and Stanford, you can't get outmatched badly athletically. Wilson gives them the best chance. Look at her stats and production and than tell me she doesn't belong.

Wilson made some mistakes today but she also made some really nice plays. She has a lot of upside, more so than Walbridge, who is a good player but not as athletic. That is how it goes at PSU; look at what happened to Price. I would love to have her at L2 for Wisconsin this year. That is what makes PSU so annoying. I do think the lineup Russ has now gives them the best chance at the national title.

I agree Price was freshman of the year 2004 and sat out on and off and now only plays back row. That is a crime as she would play anywhere else all the way around. In fact I think she would put up better numbers than Brown. Although I think brown has come a long way. I guess no matter how good you are you can always be replaced at that level. Yes I do hope that PSU wins a national title they have only 2-3 more years with all that talent. I know Russ is very good at recruiting as we can see but it will be a lot harder to recruit if he can't win after 8 years of great VB players. How many teams have that many All Americans and players of the year? How many teams have All Americans not playing?

She had one error....the refs were just the only ones who didn't see it. ...and one less kill if the refs would have caught it. That call is the resonsibility of the line judges. From the list of line judge responsibilities in the 2007 NCAA Rule book: "18.5.2.1.6 A ball contacts a player before going out of bounds on that player’s side."

When BTN played tape from all the angles, the only one where the ball clearly came off Harmatto was from the corner where the band plays (actually, between the band and the visiting team seats).
There's no line judge at that corner (even if there were, I don't know if the floor-level angle would have allowed him to see it).
PSU gets to count it, but that match ended as a tie.
