IRVING, Texas -- Juliann Faucette (Texas) and Jordan Larson (Nebraska) have earned the Big 12 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week honor for matches of Oct. 15-21, the league office announced.
Faucette receives the second weekly award of her career while Larson is recognized for the third time.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Juliann Faucette, Texas, OH, Fr., 6-2, San Diego, Calif./Westview
Faucette led the nationally-ranked No. 6 Longhorns to a pair of Big 12 road victories at No. 23 Oklahoma and Missouri. She averaged a conference-leading 6.67 points and 6.00 kills while tallying a .391 hitting percentage.
At OU, Faucette posted a kill/dig double-double with match-highs in both categories (16 kills, 12 digs). Faucette also chipped in 18 points, three total blocks and an assist.
The San Diego freshman compiled a team-best 20 kills in the Longhorns' sweep of Missouri on Saturday. Faucette recorded a .400 attack clip while registering four total blocks to help UT snap a seven-match losing streak in Columbia, Mo.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Larson, Nebraska, OH, Jr., 6-2, Hooper, Neb./Logan View
Larson tallied 4.33 digs and 0.67 blocks per contest while also recording a perfect serve reception mark (58-of-58) in three matches, including the sweep of No. 11 Hawai'i.
On Wednesday, Larson led the top-ranked Huskers with a match-high 18 digs and 24 service receptions at Missouri.
She contributed six digs and four blocks to the NU defense in the 3-0 win over Kansas.
Against Hawai'i, Larson recorded a team-high 15 digs and fielded 19 service receptions. It marked the fifth time this season that NU has held an opponent without an ace.
