Big Ten Block Party Wisconsin senior Taylor Reineke became the sixth player in Big Ten history to record 600 blocks in her career over the weekend. Her total of 604 is third all-time at Wisconsin. Across the border, Minnesota's Jessy Jones moved into seventh all-time in school history with career 419 stuffs. In Champaign, Penn State set a Huff Hall record with 25 blocks in a match including 14 by Alisha Glass, which set a rally-scoring five-game school record.
Wack Digs Up Wisconsin Record Wisconsin senior libero Jocelyn Wack became the school's all-time digs leader against Ohio State on Friday. With 1,957 career saves to her name, Wack is tied for second on the Big Ten's all-time list, behind Minnesota's Paula Gentil who compiled 2,791 digs from 2000-05.
Sorry, please forgive my homerism here, but these are career achievements accomplished thru four years of hard and sometimes not glamorous work in the trenches. The Badgers will miss both players when they're gone

So I was watching Ohio St vs Wisconsin and Beth Mowans was saying the 14 blocks in the match broke the Bucky school record for a 3 game match, which was 12. The impression she gave was that it was team blocks, even, not just individual.
That can't be serious, can it? I mean, I just looked up the UNI/Creighton match box score and UNI had 12 blocks there - and it's not like it was a huge number for them. This season alone they have had 12 twice, 13 once (against Drake on Friday) and 14 once (against American). Purdue had 18 blocks in their win over Iowa, and 13 against Michigan St.
The Badgers have never had more than 12 in a three game match in their history?

P-dub, c'mon, you can't be serious either, are you.? Do you honestly think 12 team blocks in a three game match is a record for the Badgers? I know they had 23 or 24 against Cincinnati in 2004.....I saw that one.

The Badgers had 23.5 against Cincinnati in 2004, and 19 against the Illini in 1995. I guess she was just babbling......

In other trivia, Julie DuPont was one of the victims of the Badgers' formidable block that night in 2004. Not a good trip to her home state that weekend, as they went 0-3. She was a good player, though, although Caity is my favorite DuPont.
Congrats to Reinke and JWack on the milestones, although they seem like the kind of players who would rather everyone forget about those marks and let them quietly go about their business. They have really improved the blocking and passing/defense of the Badgers since they arrived on campus.
