I totally forgot about that Long Beach player grabbing is "mid-section" earlier this season at Pauley.
I too find it a little funny that Long Beach fans start ratting Hawai`i for being a disrespectful team when one of their own players was the very one doing it several weeks ago.
I agree what the Long Beach player did was by far worse what Delano did to the Long Beach fans.

I sat two rows behind a group of yellow shirted beach students and they had an on-going exchange going with Thomas, which they initiated. When he came back onto the floor one of them yelled out "show us the bird," to which he accommodated, having it up there for only a nano-second. If you weren’t looking for it you would never have seen it. Of course the students burst into laughter. I thought it was comical, and the kids got a kick out of the fact that they squeezed it out of him.
I'm a beach fan, by the way.

Was this what everyone was talking about when they said that he flicked off the fans or did he do it again. Because if this was the incident, this was very minor.
But I still wouldn't condone such a thing. And he still shouldn't have done it, but if this was the incident that everyone is talking about then it got blown way out of proportion.

It's the only one I saw, and I was in those seats for the entire match. I was in row 3 directly behind the scorer's table. If this was the only incident I also thought it was being blown out of proportion. (Which is surprising, because everyone knows SBD never exaggerates. ) Seriously, Thomas is an awesome player and he had a great match on Wednesday. The Beach had no answer for him. I hope they find one tonight though. But I'm not willing to castrate the kid for "that."

You're ALMOST correct in your observation... HOWEVER, you're MISSING A VERY BIG PART of what happened...
We did chant the usual "GOOO BEACH", and poke at the players on the bench... Nothing really bad at all...
If that was initiating it, then so be it... BUT IT WAS NOT DIRECTED TOWARD HIM FYI...
He took upon himself to stare down our little group of Pyramid Posse members... Then it all started there...
When he aced a serve, he shouted: "which one was it?" or something in attempt to silence us...
THAT IS WHAT ESCALATED IT... so I don't know what side you WANT to take...
So we heckled in response - later on he flicked us off 3 TIMES... That is one thing you DON'T UNDERSTAND... It wasn't just 1 birdie!!! IT WAS 3... The first was when he was on the bench... Behind his back... The last one, was when we did in fact coax it out of him (he already flicked us off twice - so some of our guys wanted him to do it again so more people would see)... And yes, it was a nano-second... But it WAS nevertheless...
AS HE WAS CALLED OUT TO THE COURT BY THE COACH off the bench, he did give us his 3rd BIRDIE...
And no, IT IS NOT AT ALL AN EXAGGERATION... What is the matter with you delusional freaks? Everything is an exaggeration when it favors LBSU isn't it? PULLLEASE!
He gave us attitude, so that's why we heckled him! If you don't give us reason to pick on you, we probably won't... REMEMBER THAT...
Again, I reiterate, we actually exchanged some FRIENDLY rapport with the rest of the Hawaii players on the bench... So yes, not all of them are jerks...
BUT THOMAS IS, and he's gonna hear it tonight... Thank you very much...
007, the south end as in the black bleachers? or section 107?
GO BEACH!!!

Oh SDB. When will you grow up? Have fun at the game tonight, but be a good boy, won't you? It isn't all about you and your rowdies, ya know. Some people at the games are family types, and really do wish you'd clean yourself up. Really, soliciting a bird? Ah well - I guess juvenile behaviour is part of growing up.

Mom, FYI, it wasn't specifically me... I tend to be more reserved at volleyball games in terms of my particular heckling... At least at MEN'S VOLLEYBALL... My friends were doing most of the stuff last game... But make no mistake, when it comes to MEN'S BASKETBALL, I am one of the rowdiest mo-fos in there... No one said it was all about our "rowdies"... We're just talking about Thomas here... GO BEACH!!!

SDB you remind me of a little kid who cries to his parents after the kid he just hit hits him back. For all your justification that you "just" were heckling him, all he did was stare at you and flip you off. Athletes shouldn't behave like that, but you sure make the ones that do look a lot more justified. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

I think we all need to realize that these guys are young adults, college kids with emotions, just like the rest of us. It is easy for us to say " he shouldn't have done that " but Realistically speaking, how would we act if we were in a similar situation ?. would we be aware in the heat of the moment, that we are representing a Team or University ? Remember Brian Cox flipping off all the Buffalo fans ? These guys are professionals who should also know better. These types of situations , wrong or right, happen.

Hey SDB there is only one South end of the bleachers. Maybe I should get you a compass. Just so you can figure it out it's the end where the scoreboard is located, 10-4?

Yeah, that's what I was thinkin 007...
And I think I know who you are... Does Friday at 10:00 AM ring a bell? If so, then I know who you are...
As for everyone else... Oh common people... You're ridiculous!
DID ANY OF YOU people calling me a cry baby EVER ATTEND A MAJOR COLLEGE in the United States? HECKLING IS A MAJOR PART OF THE COLLEGE ATHLETICS ATMOSPHERE... College sports wouldn't be what it is now without it!
Have you been to a basketball game in college? HAVE YOU SEEN THE CAMERON CRAZIES at Duke University? They actually THROW SH** at the athletes... And I don't see any Maryland athletes flicking off the Cameron Crazies!
So PULLLEASE give me a break... You act like you've never been to a heated collegiate athletics event in division 1! It's SUPPOSED TO BE INSANE... And the fact of the matter is, it was relatively during the first match this week! That's my point... It wasn't even that intense, and Mr. Thomas thought he owned the building...
Oh, and I can't take it Not Richee? Do you mind telling me what you're talking about? I specifically stated that I wasn't personally taunting him... IT WAS MY FRIENDS... And to say that we can't TAKE IT would be off when you consider that we had more fun with it when we asked him to show it to us again...
I just thought it was ridiculous, because i've never seen someone with that kind of "FULL OF HIMSELF" cocky "I own this building" attitude in the Pyramid... His facial expression reflects that the WHOLE GAME...
With that sais, the Pyramid was pretty Raucous tonight, but it wasn't enough... We were swept... Great match, but I wish we could have played better (especially in the serving department)...
GO BEACH!!!

You can't take it, meaning you are complaining about him staring at you/flicking you off when it was your friends who were yelling/ screaming at him. Yes, I know heckling takes place, as I know athletes often retaliate in kind. I think you're an idiot complaining about how the athletes behave, when you admit that lots of fans, including you and your friends, act much worse.
By the way, how many times have you given athletes the bird? I'm sure it is more than 3 times. Oops, sorry, 3 TIMES.

ACTUALLY, I NEVER HAVE... And I have NEVER SEEN anyone in my company do it either! Thank you very much... What are you gonna say now?
If you wanna see THE BIRD from the student section, you go to Santa Barbara at the Thunderdome, and TRUST ME, you'll see a lot more than a bird...
And no, not even while PLAYING as an athlete representing my school last year did I EVER flick someone off...
I don't know what kind of tact you have, but you sure are displaying your bias...
GO EBACH!!!
