LAUGH FOR THE DAY:
GOP launches so-called minority star tour.
Proving yet again that there are not enough black Bush supporters to fill a bus, the GOP has launched its so-called minority star tour.
The star tour features boxing promoter Don King, 2003 Miss America Erika Harold and Texas Railroad Commissioner, Michael Williams. The “stars”, two people most black folks have never heard of, and a third with a questionable reputation, will take Bush’s message of hope and economic empowerment to those few black business leaders left standing following the Bush economic downturn.
RNC chairman Ed Gillespie will chauffeur the trio in a clown car donated by Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. The GOP Elephant called in a favor.
The tour will start in Detroit and make stops in New York, Philadelphia and Miami.
Gillespie opened his mouth and actually said, “From tax cuts, to job growth and home ownership, President Bush and congressional Republicans are leading the way and working hard to make the American dream available to all African Americans.
Erika Harold, knowing that blacks have lost jobs, homes and businesses during Bush’s three years in office, giggled at Gillespie’s statement. She was excited about touring the country in an actual circus clown car.
Williams, however, sounded a note of caution. He conceded that they would have a tough time convincing African Americans to join the party. He urged the party to promote “African American Republican leaders who are fundamentally conservative and stylistically black.”<br>
When pressed he had to admit he didn’t know where to find such an animal either.
Don King hopes the tour will lead to a future promotion deal with Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus, perhaps at the RNC convention this summer in Madison Square Garden.
“There’s a better chance of that happening than large numbers of African American voters joining the Republican Party,” he admitted.
The GOP plans to continue its minority star tours throughout the election season and is still hoping to persuade Dr. Condoleezza Rice to ride in a clown car.
