I wonder if they were singing a song of that nature during the crusades?
Singing the lyrics of a catchy tune doesn't really do much to justify actions of war. "Hey! I was singing the song man! I gotta be right in torching your village!"
Many a misdeed has been done in the name of the Lord, especially when it comes to wars.
Since the advent of the New Testament can you cite many instances from the Bible that advocate war as a reasonable solution to problems and the Lord's total endorsement of such events?

Well, there's the Book of Rumsfeld. But that was just tacked on recently. "And he said, 'Bring 'em on!' and his followers nodded in agreement, like oh so many Neo-Con Bobbleheads."

The song in question "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" was written in 1861 during the American Civil War. Shouldn't you know that, tsk, tsk. I don't know if a similar tune was sung during the Crusades. You tell me as I'm sure you've lived through it being as old as you are. I'ts not my job to justify actions of war, it's my job to irritate you and like minded buffoons. >-(Gorf)-<[} link=board=news&thread=1081566394&start=30#2 date=1082077797] Many a misdeed has been done in the name of the Lord, especially when it comes to wars. What misdeeds are you making reference to?

I'ts not my job to justify actions of war, it's my job to irritate you and like minded buffoons. You better give a refund to whomever is paying you to do that job. You're not doing a very good job of it. I generally chuckle at most of what you post.

... the American Civil War. Ya mean the war between the states? I don't think it was actually very civil. Though, I guess it depends on which definition you use. *sigh*

Is that how you people refer to it up north? Tsk, tsk. A tsk at thyself. For someone that harps on others not knowing certain things historical one would think you'd know that congress legislated that the proper definition of said conflict is to be "The War Between the States" which was actually the preferred terminology of the southern ceceded states even before that time.

Few people refer to it as "The War between the States" the majority of people refer to the Conflict as the American Civil War. Tsk, Tsk.

So many names to choose from.. How many of them were legislated to be the name of choice? I'm not concerned about the "Legislated name of choice". There are people today who can't even name the American President during that time. The War between the States? What States? People are familiar with "The American Civil War". Not everyone is as astute as I. It's time for you to tag (R)uffda, next....
