I'm tired of NBC and big media empires in general. Sigh....

We all have a little bit (or a lot) of that in us, I think. But I reject the idea that only somebody who has been there can appreciate what's going on. In fact, I think the author may overestimate her connection between herself and these athletes even more than the average person does. Because most us us wonder and imagine what it is like for them, but she thinks she actually knows. The truth is, though, that she knows what it was like FOR HER. Which may or may not have much to do with what it is like for any of those other athletes.

No one knows what it's like to be me. I'm willing to be blood- and urine-tested. Seriously.

at least she realizes that she's a disgusting human being .... I disagree. She realizes that she has impulses that aren't very charitable towards others. All of us have those impulses, as far as I know. I would say that makes her human, but not disgusting.
