US up 2 sets, 14-11 in the 3rd. Don't think it's live, but it is on NBC right now.

They have Hansen, Hoff, Touzinsky, Gardner, and Rooney on the floor! The 5 back up players!
PS: this is my 1000 post!

Maybe where you're at. I'm sitting through the torture that is Rogers/Dalhausser.

Great to see Hugh back on the bench. I can only imagine what he's going through.
USA continues to roll with the sweep, 22, 15, 18. I just love watching them play.

Funny you mention Rogers and Dallhauser, because I thought they were the only American squad on the beach. Is there another team, if so, who?!

Did you see the match vs. Japan? I realize both sides were making nervous mistakes and the level wasn't necessarily high, but the tension/excitement was unreal. What a close finish!

Why is Hugh wearing an ear piece?
Watching it on replay on CCTV1 right now....and the Chinese Men's team is terrible. They should have the technical training down. Is it that they're outmatched physically?

The USA Men's staff communicates via radio during the match. They have coaches stationed at the end line with the data volley stats during the match. Last Olympics (and maybe this one too) Rob Browning was on the end line providing feedback on the stats, rotations, tendencies, etc. while the match was going on.

Doug Beal and Arnie Ball were in the stands at the World League helping out and communicating via radio.

Thanks, that's interesting. Haven't seen any of the other teams, men or women, wear it.

The USA team is one of the most quantitative teams in the world. Very little intuition goes unchallenged. It could degenerate into paralysis by analysis but I think these guys have a good attitude about the stats.

What a close finish! Yeah, that was a great match to watch. Gibb/Rosenthal are a very exciting team to watch. They clearly have a lot of energy and their style is very appealing. I'm watching their round of 16 match with Spain right now, and they just won the 1st set, 26-24.
