Logan Tom was unbelievable. She was just an all-around force. Kim Willoughby was awesome. Did she just get all three set-ending kills?
Ah Mow and Berg both did well, as did Scott-Arruda. Nicole Davis had some nice digs. I didn't notice Bown that much. Kim Glass was a liability in passing, but did well in the front row. Tayyiba was OK.
Cuba, what happened? They didn't even go out with a whimper.

A special thanks tonight to the Cubans for missing sooo many serves and shanking so many passes you made our worst day, against you, look not so bad. Ohh its a bittersweet symphony

JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This win HAS to prove what I have been saying for the past quadrennial, my screenname is USAFAN for this very reason. Those who follow the game and are true fans of this team are clearly shocked at the ease of this win, but I have been saying for months now that when the USA is in system they are one of the best teams tonight and they showed that when they are passing well they can take their game to a whole new level. I have been dying for KW to get on the USA team and am even more of a fan than I ever have been. Keep in mind all her kills were coming off the bench cold and in high pressure situations, this girl is a stud and has come through in the clutch time and time again. To all the posters who were badmouthing this USA squad and complaining about not taking Foluke or that Berg is fat or that Ah Mow is too short you can all eat your words. USA in the gold medal match for the first time in over 20 years and their play is consistently getting better. A silver is guaranteed, let's see just how much more these women can prove to the Volleytalk naysayers and the rest of the volleyball world.

Thank you Cuba for making this match easier for the USA. 14 service and 15 hitting errors makes a 25 point set seem like a 15-16 point set instead. USA was playing to 15 points while Cuba was playing to 21-22.

Was it Calderon who slapped Ramirez during WGP? Anyone remember?

Great job girls....I'm gonna feel it today at work but it was all worth staying up to watch this game. I can't even fall asleep now. I'm still pumped and on a high. I know.....I'll have a bottle of Rum to calm myself down. Then hopefully wake up tomorrow morning.

Tayyiba made some big plays at the right time.

My only complaint is that Haneef. She isn't performing at the level she needs to be. Willoughby might be outplaying her. Its a tough call. Willoughby is flashy and makes some spectacular kills, but Haneef made some clutch kills when we needed them early.

Well the USA was good at continuing to take advantage of Cuba's errors. Also, the USA passed very, very well which probably stunned Cuba. If you get Cuba down they just self destruct, more than any other team I've seen.
Poor, poor Cuba. Too good of a team. They didn't even go out with a fight. The only match the USA has swept thus far in these Olympics!!

KEY STATS:
Logan Tom passing efficiency at 78.95%. Kim Glass passing efficiency at 85.71%.
Once again it comes down to execution. Glass and Tom finally play to their capabilities.

No matter what happens in the finals, I think these games are a rousing success. Beating Italy, Cuba, China, Japan, Poland, getting a medal. Seriously, who imagined any of that for this team, esp. the way they looked against Cuba in prelims? You go Lang Ping Uh, how the team looked against Cuba? How about after the team beat Venezuela in five? Great job Team USA! No matter what happens in the finals, I think for the team and all they have been through, the silver will feel like gold to them... but I would still love for them to come away with the gold. Let's hope that whoever they play, Lang Ping will have the team ready to battle and not be nervous and tight.

USA! USA! USA! What a fantastic win! Although Cuba definitely helped in this win, team USA was consistent through three sets of volleyball when they could have played down to the Cuban level. It seems more and more like this team is focused on what is going on on their side of the net and taking care of that first. Whoever we play in the gold medal match will definitely play better than the Cubans did today, but I like the body language and attitude of this team right now. It is clear they are tuned in to what is required of them to win. I think it really helps that we get out today with a quick 3 set win where we did not have to exert a lot of effort or emotion to get the win. Let China and Brazil battle it out while we rest and get focused for a historic match for USA volleyball.
I think a lot of credit is due Lang Ping. She did not let up today and stayed on our players with constant instruction and tips to adjust to the Cuban attack. You could tell during the third set that our blockers were finally making the adjustments and really took all the air out of the Cuban attack. I'm not certain now who we want to face in the next match, who gives us the best match ups. Brazil is clearly the better team right now than China, but playing against China for the gold medal in Beijing just doesn't sound all that great. Whoever it is, let's hope team USA keeps focusing on bettering their play!
