In every analysis that I've read from many of you .......learned people it seems the overwhelming matchups favor Brazil. I absolutely defer to many of you. History, record, talent and athleticism all go Brazil's way........but pressure......and a will and cool headedness to look to the next play favor the US.
JLP has done a fantastic job in keeping her ladies focused and rolling lineups to stay fresh and add a twist to the opposition. In reality the pressure to win internally and from home is HUGE for the Brazilians. It will be their Waterloo. US pulls the greatest upset in Womens history 3-1. Go USA!

I agree, as long as the US stays cool and the Brasilians go down on the other end of their emotional scale, USA will win.
Those of you who think that the US needs to get emotional (yelling and screaming), this is not basketball.

As far as matchups are concerned I never stated that the matchups were overwhelming in the USA's favor. However, as far as talent and athleticism are concerned I would have to disagree with your assessment. Refer to the FIVB attacking and blocking touch measurements and the US starters are actually more athletic. The Olympics have a lot to do with pressure and momentum and right now the US is considered the underdog and can go into the match with relatively little pressure. They are also peaking at the right time and playing their best volleyball. Brazil on the other hand, as was mentioned, is under extreme pressure to win the gold, as they have failed to bring home the gold in other events which they were expecting better results (beach volleyball, soccer, etc.) Make no mistake that Brazil is in this final for a damned good reason and that they will be well prepared to play their best volleyball, but this Brazilian team can be defeated and with the right mix of momentum, luck and grit by the Americans I think they have a shot and accomplishing that feat.

Plus, if the Chinese in the stands are going to be cheering for anyone, its going to be the team the "Iron Hammer" is coaching.

If you believe in things like "tournament momentum", "peaking at the right time", "underdog mentality", "#1 seed pressure", then the USA should win this match in a stroll.
If you believe in things like physical talent, precision, execution of a game plan, experience at the highest level, experience playing together as a team, then I suggest you start to get used to a sea of undulating Green and Yellow flags.
Going solely by the rosters and the past performance of the teams, the advantage is clearly Brazil by a mile. But this USA team at this moment, with this coach, has a good chance at being competitive.

I consulted my vast experience with olympic-level volleyball, and Abe Lincoln told me the US would win. He came up "heads".

All HK stations cancelled live coverage of the final, and changed it to delayed. CCTV cancelled it also.
