It's all about ratings and $$....they sure screwed the West Coast during these Olympics that is for sure...

That's three of us. It's not about the ratings and the $$$ to be too stupid to tell your announcers that you plan on showing an event tape delay so please don't reveal the result on air live.

I was disappointed to get a text message from two local news providers about the results. I subscribe to sms news for local events and breaking news.
My issue is that if volleyball were truly "breaking news" then why wasn't it shown live?
So, something is wrong... either NBC needs to re-think their strategy (which I think they are starting to), or the local news needs to not spoil the results.
I think the London Olympics will demand immediate and full Internet coverage for all events. The technology is there... will the demand be?

Well, not only did they spoil the result, but they spoiled it incorrectly. Craig Sager, you are a douchebag and public enemy #1.

My friends are pissed off like the rest of you after receiving breaking news through their cell phone about the match I was going to watch at 3 PM(PDT) today and did something they never did before and that is e-mail a complaint letter to NBC and its affiliates. I don't know how effective it will be even though I'm sure the suits at NBC know there's lots of viewers like my friends who aren't exactly pleased at the "live" broadcast of the Olympics. I hope it does some good...actually most likely not, but at least they're aiming their frustrations in the right direction.

Which one are you more pissed at? The not showing it live or the advanced notice?
I am pissed at the not showing it live. I think THAT is the bigger sin.

It is probably better that it wasn't on at 7am, in terms of exposure for the sport. Why the heck did they skip so many points, however? If they had time constraints, which I doubt, they could easily have skipped part of game 1.
Same deal with the men. Better to have it in prime time tomorrow than late late tonight?

Was pissed off they decided to show that basketball garbage nothing but turnovers and missed shots. Especially since the stupid KHON sportscaster said the volleyball game would be on at 7 am and I woke up to find that turnover mess on instead

This match needed to be on live. I don't know why we have to be the only country in the world with taped coverage. I am so turned off of NBC right now (I still love the Olympics, but hate NBC's coverage - I wish I was back in Seattle where I could watch CBC's quality, thorough and LIVE coverage).
But tonight's match takes the cake. The men's gold medal match (and with the U.S. playing is one of the big events of the Olympics as a whole from an American vantage point) is going to be shown on a 22-hour tape-delay basis. Yes, 22 hours. (19 for East Coast folks) That is truly sickening.
I wonder what the odds of not knowing the result for 22 hours will be. Especially if we win.
NBC needs to make some major changes by 2010. I don't want to live in the same exact time zone as the Olympics and still have absolutely not a single thing live on NBC (of course, the East Coast will get some events live lol).

Actually, nbcolympicsfeedback@nbcuni.com is their dedicated e-mail address for Olympic coverage comments. I know because I have already sent them a good number. www.nbc.com/Footer/Contact_Us/

I have to agree too, why is the coverage so late over here? Why do they show things so damn late? When I left my house at like 11 oclock this morning (saturday) the volleyball game still didn't come on...and yes it really did piss me off when the announcers said the result of the game...
i actually kinda stoked and disappointed at the same time when the announcer said that the US won gold in volleyball...then I was jus more disappointed and pissed off when they corrected the result...
it is jus kinda of irritating and pissing me off about the olympic coverage because we get the tape delay so late here in Hawai`i...it's pretty much like a day late...the men's volleyball final is the last thing being showed right before the closing ceremony! it jus boggles my mind on why we are getting everything so late here.
