sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3674820Unable to find enough teachers, Ga. district cancels school Tired of struggling to find enough teachers to staff its classrooms on the Friday before the annual Georgia-Florida football game, the Clarke County (Ga.) School District -- which includes Athens, home of the University of Georgia -- decided to cancel school altogether. According to area media reports, 137 teachers last year called in sick the day before the big game, and the district was able to find only 113 substitutes. School administrators studied the absences over the years and found a pattern -- almost twice as many teachers call in sick the Friday before the annual game in Jacksonville, Fla., about 360 miles away, than on an average school day. Although some parents and teachers are questioning whether the day off places too much emphasis on football over academics, at least one school administrator believes it's a wise move on the district's part. "I've heard parents say that it's ridiculous, but the reality of the situation is, if there are so many people in this system and this community that go to the game -- if that's a reality -- it's irresponsible [to have school on that day] if that really is our community," said Barrow Elementary School principal Tad MacMillan, according to the Athens Banner-Herald. "I think the school system is wise to factor that in when they plan the calendar."

Y'all have never heard of the biggest cocktail party? Its a mess. They set up temporary "jails" on the streets of Jacksonville to temporarily lock people up, until right before kickoff. Alcohol and vomit flow in torrents down the streets.
of course, if all the school teachers are down in Jacksonville getting sloshed, it really makes me wonder about whether these "teachers" have the moral aptitude to be teaching young children.

Having been a walk-on coach in a h.s. environment for many years, I can most certainly affirm the fact that the best and brightest young people coming out of college, on average, most certainly do not go into the teaching profession. There are exceptions, of course, with people who truly have a passion to educate young people. But for the most part, the pool of college graduates that end up getting teaching credentials are the college party crowd that had to decide somewhere between their 4th and 6th years in college what the hell they were actually gonna get a degree in and what kind of job they could possibly get after barely staying above the minimum GPA for their entire college careers.

#1 thing I heard last January when I went to New Orleans to watch the Sugar Bowl:
"We play SEC football here..." followed by a condescending staredown.
I was like "Uh...okay...fine sir, whatever you say. Could you get out of the way now please? I need to buy about 10 of them UH Sugar Bowl shirts behind you for all my friends..."
Haha.

These are UGA grads. Say no more.

They may want to cancel classes on Monday as well. I'm sure they still won't be recovered from that beat down!
