When we were both in school, my girlfriend at the time met Henry. She was an undergrad lab assistant in the cognative science department. She told me some interesting things about him.
He had a good sense of humor. One time some of the grads conspired with him to play a trick on one of the others. They told him that in a little while Annie would be come into the room, and he should greet her by name (which, of course, he never did). So he spent something like 15 minutes by himself just keeping that one thought in his short term memory. Then when she did walk into the room, he turned to her and very naturally said, "Hi Annie, how are you today?"
She also told me that somehow he was able to remember at least one person later on in life -- he could see a picture of Tom Selleck and recognize him as "Magnum".

Cool story. I just can't imagine being in that state.
