Did anyone see this?
I rented the DVD last night and maaaaan...if you are easily horrified, you should avoid this movie. It's not a horror movie at all. But the mere fact that such a thing can happen at this day and age (it's based on a true story) just leaves me floored. There were times during the movie when parts of my body shook (due to nervousness), and this has never happened to me before.
Very disturbing slice of Americana.
Catherine Keener, Ellen Page, James Franco.

Of course I am not going to rent the movie nor buy it, but watch it for free from that watch-movies site. But first, I am going to watch Frost/Nixon since someone already posted the movie.

I saw this movie on Showtime a few months back. Knew nothing of the real story and was simply mortified that this a) actually happened and b) that nutjob actually got paroled on a life sentence. And those damn kids. Ugh. That no one spoke up until it was too damn late. WTF is wrong with people?
It's a very well done movie, however. Great performances by Keener and Page. I believe Keener was nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe for her work.

Good movie, only complaint is the ending, where it makes you think she escapes from the home and rejoins her parents, just to find out that's not what happened. Because of that, it left me with questions on how did she die and ended up on the floor in the kitchen and the actual time frame of when she was put into the basement to when she ended up dead. If the accounts of her sister's testimony during the trial is true, it must not has been weeks as the movie made one think, since according to her sister, the girl that died wasn't given any water to drink. So the notion that this torture was for weeks cannot be true, since I have yet to hear/read of anyone living for weeks without any consumption of any type of liquid into their body.
