Penelope Cruz wins the first Oscar of the night. Loved her in Volver.

This has been the most entertaining Oscars I've ever seen. Amazing.

The need Julia Roberts to get another best actress award so she can tell the musical director to pound sand when they try to cut her off.
Or maybe that doofus from Life is Beautiful to run around and make an azz out of himself again.
Oh, and Denzel Washington should have won his best actor Oscar for "Hurricane" instead of "Training Day".

That was a really good show. Lots of smart ideas. Laughs.
Even the very end, with the montage of 2009 movies to come.
By the way, Button is a much better movie than it's getting credit for. I liked Slumdog a lot, but Button was better art.
The Reader is also better than some of the reviews.

I haven't seen "Slumdog Millionaire" yet but I've got this funny felling that it'll be just like "Little Miss Sunshine" -- good little movie but how the hell did it receive all those Oscar nominations (much less Oscar wins)?

It's nothing like Little Miss Sunshine. For starters, it was filmed in Mumbai. Yes, so was Miss Little Miss Sunshine, and, yes, they both have the falling into excrement scenes, and, yes, Toni Collette is in both, but they are nothing at all alike. Except for those things. And all the others.

I rented "Wanted" last night. It stars Angelina Jolie and James McElvoy (the guy from "Atonement"). Amazingly, I liked it. Kinda trashy in many ways and yet, I found myself thoroughly entertained. You have to turn off your braincells though. I think it was nominated for Visual Effects at the Oscars. Reminded me of "The Matrix" except for the blue pill/red pill crap.

Hugh Grant got trashed by the critiques but also thought it was one of the best Oscars ever.
