Christmas has come early for geeks around the world.
March 3, 2009 - 03/03/09 - is this decade's second "Square Root Day," when the month and day both form the square root of the year.
Math mavens are celebrating the holiday with square-root themed parties, contests and activities.
Redwood, Calif. teacher Ron Gordon, who has celebrated each Square Root Day since September 9, 1981, is sponsoring a contest to find the best expression of the holiday. The prize Gordon's offering is, of course, $339.
"These days are like calendar comets, you wait and wait and wait for them, you then they brighten up your day and - poof - they're gone," Gordon told the Associated Press.
Number-crunchers will party like it's 03/03/09 by indulging in the holiday's official celebratory meal - a plate of root vegetables cut into squares - or planning events like square dances.
"Square roots are like the fountain of youth," Gordon told The Punxsatawney Spirit.
"In October, I'll turn a mere 8-squared," Gordon said.
The last Square Root Day was Feb. 2, 2004 - Groundhog Day - and the next will be on April 4, 2016.
March 3 is the second of nine Square Root Days this century.

Happy Square Root Day to you too. It should be known as the perfect square day. The vast majority of the square roots of integers are non-integers and irrational.

Well, on 3/21/17, I will be celebrating my first locker combination! It was right 3, left 21, and right 17. The numbers that make up the date 3/21/17 represent my first locker combination. Woo Hoo!

The vast majority of the square roots of integers are non-integers and irrational. As are most VT'ers.

Happy Square Root Day to you too. It should be known as the perfect square day. The vast majority of the square roots of integers are non-integers and irrational. And many of those would be imaginary or complex numbers because the set of integers includes the negatives. Being the nerd I am, I taught a lesson on irrational and imaginary square roots today.

Oh, by the way . . . The article said that this is the second of nine square root days this century. Isn't it the third? 1/1/01, 2/2/04, 3/3/09 . . . etc.

Notice the ...SQUARE part of the BS...add ANY prime #s +339 divide by your birthday #s and add the current day in Aztec calender ..
Multiply that # by total number of VTers who care and then subtract r's total #s of post - Billy's
add the speed of light X the number of days in March.
Drink 1 MT dew while facing north. (diet)
Spin 3 times in opposite direction of earth's rotation.
Add the number of blue moons that occur this year and get..
a headache.
I hate math and squares.
Fingers and toes are there for a reason...use them.
