I ex president has a AIRCRAFT CARRIER named after him ..the other a car? Will the unions honor OBAMA by naming the next new flop after the President?
Anyway..for my latest rant. The taxpayers are being forced to pay for the auto worker health care and benefits for life...
Reagan forced air traffic union Under.
So are you happy having to pay for not only public employees but now private workers who forced their companies under?
What about R and his future?
or any of the 80% of workers who are not under union contract with PRIVATE BUSINESS?
Who is bailing R out?
so using the OBAMA argument why are you NOT UNION as of today? The government has signaled it will back UNION contracts no matter what.
My opinion..We just sent a socialist message to all employers. Now watch as companies and businesses fold...move away ...or go under.
FREE MARKET ?
Capitalism?
No.. SLAVERY to THE GOVERNMENT.
Cool old song playing in my mind...
HEY..Big Brother...

Are you saying Reagan's treatment of the Air Traffic Controllors was a good thing?
Another thing. There is a 3rd way between unfettered capitalism and out and out socialism, something in the middle. Yes, I say give it a chance.

Wash your hands..
R ..what is the middle?
Your COMPROMISE is always a left wing agenda.
UNFETTERED capitalism?
You mean forcing WALMART to become UNION and join GM...? Yes forcing UNIONS out of PUBLIC service is a good thing. FOR TAX PAYERS. Let them compete with the private sector.
Public UNIONS earn MORE than the private sector..risk NOTHING and now enjoy GOVERNMENT support in Forcing huge contracts down everyones tax base.
By Backing GM'S UNIONS contracts OBAMA has declared OPEN season on any company , business or public service contraction bargaining. UNIONS will now ask for everything...knowing that government will be there to pick up their mess THEY created.
There will be NO CHECKS n Balance. Compromise? ...OUT THE DOOR.
We will have the same work ethic as the post office and local DMV in every business model. No need to be superior..because you wont get paid for doing more, faster or better.
Again who's bailing R out? answer me that..oh great debater?

Regan was one of our worst presidents ever. He spent his days sleeping, his wife and her astrologer actually ran the country.

Are you saying Reagan's treatment of the Air Traffic Controllors was a good thing? Yes. There was a time and place for labor unions in the history of our country - they were instrumental in fighting for the rights of workers during the Industrial Revolution. Like all things, they have outlived their usefulness. Many of the initiatives which were the sole domain of labor unions have been taken over by US labor law and federal watch agencies - OSHA, etc. They only thing labor unions are good for now is driving up the overall price of consumer goods. Companies that are already struggling to maintain themselves in a down economy do not need unions driving up their costs with collective bargaining agreements - the rise in labor costs are passed on to the consumer, not absorbed by the company itself. The whole "Live Better, Work Union" slogan is a bunch of pure crap. Unions will negotiate with companies for a 10 cent wage increase for their workers, but the workers themselves will lose more income over time due to union-ordered sicks outs, walk outs, and closed plants. Unions will also take any additional income they earn for workers back via union dues.

Bill, why do you keep referring to someone bailing me out? Please clarify. I don't know whether to take offense or not.
Bob, regardless of how you (or I) feel about unions, Reagan's actions in regard to the ATC was a terrible development. It was the beginning of the whole "Reagan Revolution" which, in theory if not in practice, was all about getting the government to stand aside while capitalism ran amok.
And here we are. Thanks, Ronnie.

Thanks, Ronnie. Whoa, Nelly. Lay down the crackpipe there, buddy. How you equate Reagan's union-busting actions to this so-called "Reagan revolution" of the government "standing aside" is beyond ludicrous. It's ludricrous squared. No cubed. No, wait...it's ludicrous exponential. So you're telling us that the President taking a conscious action to bust up a union is the beginning of that same President's revolution to take no more conscious action and "step aside"? OHHHHHHH KAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, I always told you guys Ruffda was a closet Socialist. Now, he has revealed that he is a closet Communist too. He criticized a US President for upholding the law. Not just the law, but the freakin' UNITED STATES CODE.
In the heirarchy of the laws of this country, there is no argument that the U.S.C. is the biggest and baddest of all laws. And Ruffda doesn't think the Prez should uphold them.
Here's the poop:
On August 3, 1981 the union declared a strike, seeking better working conditions, better pay and a 32-hour workweek. In doing so, the union violated a law {5 U.S.C. (Supp. III 1956) 118p.} that banned strikes by government unions. However, several government unions (including one representing employees of the Postal Service) had declared strikes in the intervening period without penalties. Ronald Reagan, however, declared the PATCO strike a "peril to national safety" and ordered them back to work under the terms of the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947. Only 1,300 of the nearly 13,000 controllers returned to work.[3] Subsequently, Reagan demanded those remaining on strike return to work within 48 hours, otherwise their jobs would be forfeited. At the same time Transportation Secretary Drew Lewis organized for replacements and started contingency plans. By prioritizing and cutting flights severely, and even adopting methods of air traffic management PATCO had previously lobbied for, the government was initially able to have 50% of flights available.[3]
On August 5, following the PATCO workers refusal to return to work Reagan fired the 11,345 striking air traffic controllers who had ignored the order,[5][6] and banned them from federal service for life (which was later rescinded by the President). They were replaced initially with nonparticipating controllers, supervisors, staff personnel, some nonrated personnel, and in some cases by controllers transferred temporarily from other facilities. Some military controllers were also used until replacements could be trained. The union was decertified on October 22, 1981.[7]
Some former striking controllers were allowed to reapply after 1996 and were rehired; they and their replacements are now represented by the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, which was organized in 1987 and had no connection with PATCO.

r, wasn't it you that cried he lost his job?
If you were UNION ..would OBAMA be saving you?
Thousands of UNION DRYWALLERS and PAINTERS have lost their jobs.. OUR UNION has given MILLIONS TO DEMOCRATS during the last 2 election cycle.
WHY ARE AUTO WORKERS BEING SAVED WITH TAX PAYER DOLLARS?
When good paying construction UNION JOBS are being OVER RUN with NON UNION MEXICAN workers?
Working for substandard wages and benefits?
and then we IMPORT TAINTED CHINESE DRYWALL?
OUR UNION CONSTRUCTION JOBS ARE MORE IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE THAN some line worker bolting parts on an assembly line...a job that is UNSKILLED and high school education could do.
Let the migrant workers do their jobs.

Bill, I want to thank you for your sensitivity to my situation. I don't recall "crying."
I'd also like to tell you to go f*** yourself.
Bob, union-busting is of course part of the Reagan Revolution. Its soldiers do not mind using government to open up the playing field for Capitalists -- and then they stand aside.
