Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado have voted to support the NCVF and are working on attending the NCVF championships

Seems UCF's "strongly recommending" NIRSA for nationals but have not put any kind of requirement in place quite yet. We're using this forum and the links posted to provide a balanced argument since they seem completely uninformed about NCVF and think teaming up with a clothing company makes a volleyball tournament better...

"2010 AE NCCS National Volleyball Championships"
"Sport club volleyball – teams receive additional free, high-quality volleyball equipment and apparel"
hahahahahaa
because american eagle is known for their high-quality volleyball clothing, right? what a joke

The only teams that might enjoy this American Eagle apparel, is the midwest teams that wear that stuff! You could not pay anyone on my team to wear AE, those free shirts would be thrown straight into the trash.

FAILacy: More teams are being added every week. In fact, 2010 is shaping up to be our best year ever.

Agreed... I love the "myth-buster" format though!! Seems like they responded directly to a couple of my claims from volleytalk... good for NIRSA for chiming in!! Great effort, but that FAQ is rittled with misinformation and half-truths. For example: "18 schools have expressed their verbal commitment to participate in the 2010 AE NCCS National Volleyball Championships in Dallas." While it may be true 18 SCHOOLS have made verbal commitments. League commissioners tell us these SCHOOLS have committed, but the TEAMS haven't committed to anything. Also, what does this mean? A men's team? A women's team? Both??? If it's both genders, why not list the number as 36 teams??? but again, NIRSA isn't talking to teams, because they don't have a relationship with them. They don't understand the grass-roots nature of the sport, the constant footwork and relationship building that your league/conference commissioners do all year round. This is yet another example of the disconnect that has been happening for quite some time. NIRSA has relationships with intramural directors, recreation departments, and sport club directors who pass along directives to teams through oversight and supervision. One more example: "To our knowledge, only four individuals previously associated with the NCCS National Volleyball Championships will no longer be associated with the tournament." This statement belittles the value and significance that these four people have on the tournament. They are the gas that makes the engine go! Period. They always have been and will continue to do so. They are influential in the sport in many ways, and simply get it! ncvfvolleyball.org/FAQ.aspx#ctl00_IWS_WH_CPH_Content_LMTControl20This is all unfortunate to present information that is misleading, and the undergrad kids could really care less at this point I'm sure. I'm looking forward to this transition being completed and the sport progressing out of this informational mire. It's just too bad that NIRSA won't let go of this tournament because it presents a corporate opportunity for big-name sponsorship. Actions speak louder than FAQ's here: The winner in Dallas will get a trophy that will read something like this: "American Eagle National Campus Championship Series Champions" Reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live skit: "The Holy Roman Empire was neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire... discuss"

Yes I have a thought, and I agree with nccvl in that it appears NIRSA used a bunch of half truths in some of their responses. FAILacy: More teams are being added every week. In fact, 2010 is shaping up to be our best year ever. I really enjoyed this completely idiotic comment. How can anyone take anything NIRSA says serious, with this response? Even the NCVF acknowledges this first year is gonna be interesting and there will be some 'kinks" and issues to work out. Does NIRSA honestly think anyone with half a brain won't know this year CANNOT, under any circumstance, be "the best ever year", for club volleyball when it comes to a National Tournament. Sheesh.... Maybe they mean it will be the BEST YEAR EVER for the One Top 25 team who is forced to attend their tourney. And instead of sturggling to make the DI Gold Division in a full tourney, they will waltz their way into the Championship Game to play a D-IAA team that was forced to play "up" to make sure there was at least 16 teams. LOL

NCVF have their Governance Rules up now....
...just noticed them....
I have provided feedback on a couple clarifications needed to the folks in charge.
NIRSA has a bunch more teams added that I also just noticed.

They are on the NIRSA list for Dallas because their Rec sports dept apparently has mandated they go there, and the Rec Sports staff likely put the college names on the NIRSA site. Apparently the players have voted to go elsewhere...to Louisville for NCVF...Nationals.
So now the players are dealing with their administration on campus to make a change.
Remains to be seen if they are able to DO that.

Another "False" assertion on the NIRSA website. I particpiated in club volleyball in the early 90's, and at that time, NIRSA was NOT INVOLVED. We played in the Collegiate Club Championships (or something like that) back then. I think NIRSA became involved in the mid 90's when "asked" by Gary Colberg. So how is it NIRSA can state this:
Since 1985, 3,298 teams and 35,057 players have competed in what was known as the "NIRSA Collegiate Volleyball Sport Club Championships" and is now the AE NCCS National Volleyball Championships. That's a 26-year tradition that NIRSA is planning to carry on for many more years to come!
Clever word play once again by NIRSA. I think they would be much better off being "honest and upfront", and then hope that teams chose their tourney. But as their cleverly worded responses become more transparent, teams will quickly let them know we are smarter than they hope we are.
I hope NIRSA backs off quickly, saves themselves some money, and lets the NCVF thrive as the volleyball PLAYERS CHOICE TOURNEY, and then NIRSA can go one as the REC DEPARTMENT'S MANDATED TOURNEY.
