What major would Nebraska have that UCLA doesn't have. That doesn't add up. I think it is an excuse to cover up the real reason..either she didn't like playing for Kim and Andy or she was homesick and decided she didn't want to be that far from home. Strange, because the rumor was when she was being recruited that she didn't want to play for her Dad. I wonder if Cook will do with Kristen Kelsay what he did with Minch.. ask her to go to a Juco then cut her loose to another school.

Unless I'm out of the loop I'm not sure Lauren would need a scholarship. Don't most public universities have sweet tuition deals for children of staff members??

It's not that Nebraska has a field of study that UCLA doesn't; it's that the field of study Lauren wanted to major in wasn't "allowed" by the UCLA volleyball staff, given the volleyball practice time conflicts and so forth. That's the way I read it.

That's the way I read it. I believe that was actually the problem for Gil. Cook's problem was her major wasn't offered. Seems that when Paven came to Nebraska her major wasn't offered until they created it for her.

IMO, Kelsay was never going to start or have significant playing time at Nebraska before this happened.

Seems like the tuition issue would be easy to take care of without burning a scholly.
"Coach Cook, we are very happy with your job performance. We are giving you a raise, the amount of which just coincidentally is equal to one year's tuition, room and board at the University of Nebraska."

So does this all but guarantee that Broekhuis (sp?) will only be utilized as a rightside and not a setter? Next year, they will have her, Sydney, Lauren, Kelsay, and Root. And they will be getting Sieckmann soon. So...that's a whole bunch of setters - and I would be really surprised if at least Kelsay doesn't find a way out of there (or Cook finds a way out for her)...

Lauren started classes yesterday at UCLA. The Lincoln Journal Star reports she is starting classes at Nebraska on Monday. And that she traveled to Lincoln Wednesday (Jan 4th I assume). I'm surprised KK had incorrect information. Did LC start classes at UCLA in the morning and then travel to Nebraska that afternoon? I'm confused, but not as confused as Keystone must be.

Yanz is not coming back next year. She graduates this May. So does this all but guarantee that Broekhuis (sp?) will only be utilized as a rightside and not a setter? Next year, they will have her, Sydney, Yanz, Lauren, and Kelsay (she's 2010, right?). And they will be getting Sieckmann soon.
