9th place finishes for Matt/Nick and Casey/Brad. Phil/Todd and Jake/Sean still alive.
On the women's side, all teams are still alive in the winner's bracket. Ross/Kessy vs. Nicole/Misty coming tomorrow.

Ross/Kessy vs Nicole/Misty rematch in the semis. Dalhausser/Rogers finished out of the medal round, losing the 3rd place match.

Kessy/Ross defeated May-Treanor/Branagh twice on the weekend. Not a surprise since Misty hadn't played last year. It will be interesting to watch as the year goes on. I would expect the May/Branagh partnership to get stronger.
Also, Turner-Akers finished 5th, losing only to May-Branagh and Silva/Franca.
Overall, a nice showing for the Americans considering that the Brazilians are further into their season (as I understand it).

I think it's less the partnership, and more that Misty isn't playing like Misty. It looks to me like she's playing tentatively - not getting the big digs she usually gets. I think she still needs time to recover from her injury, physically and mentally.

I think she still needs time to recover from her injury, physically and mentally. If I remember correctly, Misty came back and played really well with Kerri in Az last Sept. She has had 8 months of intense training. Misty is Misty. I think Branagh might be tough to play with. Obviously with the score, siding out was the problem. They were outscored 2 to 1. Sometimes in beach volleyball you just don't like the way certain people set you the ball. And, chemistry is huge. There are problems here. Misty and Nicole will be able to beat most teams with shear athleticism but to lose to Ross/Kessey that bad there is something wrong.

"Sometimes you just don't like the way certain people set you the ball".... Branaugh got most of the serves, so Misty was setting. It will take a while. I think the partnership will work. Give it time.

If things don’t change soon, Misty will be in the market for a new partner.
