The AVP Long Beach event started today. It only involves the top 16 teams on the men's and women's sides (minus Kessy/Ross who are playing in Europe). For full results, you can go here: www.avp.com/Schedules-and-Tickets/Tournaments/2010-AVP-NIVEA-Tour/AVP-Tour-Long-Beach/Results.aspxOn the men's side, Fuerbringer/Lucena have had a very bad day, losing their first 2 matches and finishing last. The bracket is pretty much going to form otherwise. On the women's side, the bracket has gone completely to form. Not even a minor upset so far. Winner's bracket semis still to be played at this point.

Anyone know why Ross/Kessy aren't in the field at Long Beach?

I see that you mention they are playing in Europe- but Misty/Nicole are also listed for that event (that starts in a couple of days) yet they are playing in LB...

We had a similar discussion in reverse on this thread about this weekend's FIVB event: volleytalk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=beach&action=display&thread=32992Basically, the FIVB-Marseille event is going on right now and teams had to choose between the two. Personally, I think it was wiser to stay with the AVP this weekend as I mentioned in the other thread, but I'm sure Kessy/Ross have their reasons. Maybe the pay to the winner is higher on the FIVB-Marseille event, or maybe they figure that they're going to the next few FIVB grand slam events which are very lucrative and they want to get their bodies acclimated to Europe the extra week to make sure they do well.

Anyone know why Ross/Kessy aren't in the field at Long Beach? Playing this week-end in France on the FIVB tour.
