BTW, Keenan/Jennings are probably in trouble. They have to win one of the next two matches, and the two teams are Alison/Emanuel and Harley/Pedro. Good luck to them.

After the later matches today...
Keenan/Jennings lost to Harley/Pedro, so they have the tall order of needing to beat Alison/Emanuel to make it out of pool. Furby/Lucena, Gibb/Rosy & Rogers/Dal all won their second matches, so they are in good shape.
On the women's side, they'll start the second round tomorrow. Misty/Nicole have lower seeds on their side of the bracket and while some are underseeded, it is a good opportunity for them to advance to the finals. Kessy/Ross, OTOH, have a tough draw with Larissa/Juliana in the 3rd round. Of course, it isn't as bad as the second round matchup of Antonelli-Talita (2) BRA vs Xue-Zhang Xi (3) CHN.

The only women's team remaining is Kessy/Ross. MM-T/Branagh finish with a disappointing ninth.
And Casey/Keenan are out - apparently due to an injury in their 3rd loss in the pools.

Kessy/Ross are now out as well, losing a 3-set match to Larissa/Juliana in the unfortunate 3rd-round draw.
On the men's side, Rogers/Dalhausser, Furby/Lucena and Gibb/Rosy are all slated to play their 2nd-round matches tomorrow. Rogers/Dalhausser got the bye from winning their pool.
I don't know one way or another, but it's possible that Rogers/Dalhausser could have just given themselves the day off today since the one pool match had no impact on their tournament. They had already clinched first place in their pool and the subsequent bye into the second round. I don't know whether the FIVB has punitive rules for skipping a match, but they had no personal incentive to play the match today otherwise. I'm hoping that's the case instead of an actual serious injury...
It's also possible that Jennings/Keenan also forfeited their match for similar reasons. They had already been eliminated yesterday and Allison/Emanuel had already clinched first, so their match had absolutely no effect on the tournament at all.
Again, I don't know one way or another for a fact.

This is a bit of a switch, the American men are carrying the flag this week, so to speak.
All 3 men's teams won their second round matches, including impressive 3-set wins by Fuerbringer/Lucena over 4th-seeded Cunha/Thiago of Brazil and Gibb/Rosenthal over 2nd-seeded Wu/Xu of China. Both of them are on the other side of the draw from Rogers/Dalhausser. Round 3 will be starting in a few hours.
On the women's side, Larissa/Juliana will play Vivian/Lima in a Brasilian finale.

Roger/Dalhausser beat Furby's team in the gold medal match. Winner split $43,500, second place purse was $29,500. Gibb/Rosie lost in round 3, a solid showing as well.

The men's semifinals was a USA-Brazilian showdown (as it should be ) with the USA getting the better of it this week. Of course Gibb/Rosie lost in the 3rd to Marcio-Araujo/Ricardo to set up the showdown. Let's hope our women bounce back next week!
