Toward the end of the season I thought Howard hit a few too many tip shots and roll shots when the game was on the line. I still recall the match against Penn State the beginning of her freshman season. Howard was swinging with reckless abandon at critical times. I would like to see her recapture that attitude. I would rather Howard bang away and get blocked occasionally than go into tip mode.
I am glad Howard plays for Stanford. I have posted in the past she plays some of the best floor defense I have seen from a 6'3" player.

I will agree that Howard has been shown to be a little to "conservative" with her shots. She seems like she wants to minimize errors so much, that she doesn't go as hard as she can. She truly has the potential. I've seen moments of amazing play from her. Especially her freshman year against hawaii. When they played against texas she has 14 kills hitting .300 with 17 digs.
I'm gonna sound very biased here, but Howard, burgess, Ajanaku, and bugg are all all american potential players (with bugg and inky already proving it). Howard will have to step into a more prominent role with the loss of howard and I expect her to excell.

Are we expecting another recruit to commit any time soon after Hayley Hodson? She's an MB.
And re: Audriana Fitmorriz, she's gonna be soo good. Nebraska better have her commit soon or else she probably would be waiting for Stanford admissions.

It sounds like the only 2015 scholarship recruit that might be in play is Wiltjer unless there is some recruiting going on overseas.
There was an SCVA tournament today. I couldn't make it. I wanted to check if Hodson was playing. I believe she starts up training with the Senior National Team on Monday. Between club and NT training Hodson must be taking it to the limit of endurance. Hopefully she has something left in her shoulder and knees by the time she gets to Stanford.

I know this some indoor, but she's still a stanford grad. Karissa cook went all the way to the finals for the beach championships but fell to usc number one team.

Wave 18 Brent struggled at Far Westerns a week ago, but ultimately was awarded an at-large bid to Junior Nationals Open division. Here is game film from their final match at Far Westerns ( a loss to City Beach). (Sidney Brown #1, Sarah Benjamin #2.)
Wave got beaten badly by NCVC on day 2, and then barely lost in 3 to Vision 18 Gold. Their best playing was in the Vision match, which isn't on film, but Sidney Brown was pounding balls in that game. Wave has one of the elite hitting lineups in club volleyball, but their back row play and setting doesn't seem to quite equal their hitting.

It was the first time I saw Sydney Brown in te VDO above. She was wearing #1, right? She was agile and quick, but she didn't look as tall. She will have a hard time to crack the line up at the Farm.
Will she be playing libero?

Will she be playing libero? Doubtful. Her backrow play is good but not stellar.

Kerri, can you help coach our sand team after 2016 Olympics? /photo/1 Kerri said that she was in. She would be a good Sand Volleyball Coach for Stanford! Why doesn't she help coach indoor too? She would be a good draw for the recruits. It looks like the Stanford sand court construction has stalled for the moment... Attachments:

Sydney Brown has improved her hitting skills. Her passing still needs work for her to find playing time at OH for Stanford. In the matches I watched Brown did not receive serve. Early in the season she was moved to rightside so Wave may not need her in the passing formation. As someone else noted Brown's passing is ok but will have to get better to find PT against the likes of Burgess, Howard, and Hodson in 2015.
I don't know what happened to Wave. At one point they were the #1 ranked team in SCVA based on points. The past month they had extreme ups and downs. The last SCVA tournament they did pretty well beating TStreet in the playoffs and finishing third overall. Wave has the potential to do well at Junior Nationals if they get hot at the right time.
