I would go, in order, Brown, Burgess and Howard in Back row hitting ability. Not necessarily so in the front.

Good luck to stanford. Their my close second favorite teams, (obviously hawaii is my first), and whenever Hawaii is not playing, Im always cheering for them. I see stanford will a for sure three AA this yea in bugg, inky and burgess and possibly howard if her velocity has improved

So, it sounds like Benjamin is better at back row defense and passing than Brown. But Brown brings the ability to add some back row offense. My question is, is Brown better than Burgess or Howard who would otherwise be the back row offense option? Don't have enough data to judge that. I think hitting from right back (where Brown generally was) is different from middle back (where Burgess and Howard were). Brown was best in-system (even hitting from the back row) where her quickness and velocity got the ball through before the block formed and was hard enough to give the diggers trouble. If you are suggesting Brown could sub back row for Howard, for example, that would require she be a primary passer. I don't think she is ready for that. She didn't pass much that I recall in the scrimmage. The passers on her side were Benjamin, Kennedy, and Vanjak.

Not sure if it was posted anywhere on the 200 pages of this thread but Morgan Hentz (Lakeside Park, Kentucky/Notre Dame Academy/NKYVC) has narrowed her school choices to Stanford and Penn State. She is a 5'9" outside hitter being converted to a libero in college but has a chance to grow to 5'11". She turned down Texas, USC, Florida, and Michigan. She is part of the Class of 2016. www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/high-school/kentucky-high-school/2014/08/20/nda-finds-strength-unity/14366553/www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/high-school/kentucky-high-school/2014/08/20/ndas-morgan-hentz-two-moves-ahead/14371117/For defensive specialists/liberos in 2016: Stanford - Sarah Benjamin (Jr.), Halland McKenna (Soph.) <-- Rumored recruit from before Penn State - Laura Broerman (Sr.), Taylor Krause (Sr.), Carley Muller (Sr.), Skylar Dykstra (RJr.), Lainy Pierce (Jr.), Natalie Canulli (Soph.), Kendall White (Fr.)

That number (two) will probably not go up a lot, particularly with scholarship players. She would have an excellent opportunity to start at Stanford, numerically less so at PSU.

Sounds like she'd be a very nice pickup for Stanford. Hopefully she can wait another year until Stanford can officially offer her.

Good find vbfreak. I am surprised some Stanford fan hadn’t stumbled onto this. Sbilo, you usually are the first to locate these articles about recruits. They were published five days ago, what happened?
Hentz is exactly what Stanford needs in 2016 and beyond. I am not sold yet on who we have in the back row for future years. Let’s hope Hentz doesn’t make any announcement for another year.

Nice to be able to narrow your choices to Penn State and Stanford, if true.

Sounds like she'd be a very nice pickup for Stanford. Hopefully she can wait another year until Stanford can officially offer her. On a first read, Hentz sounds promising. Two things catch my attention: (1) Her coach says she is way beyond others reading and anticipating where balls will go in the back row. (2) She apparently has a strong lower body with enough quad mass and leg strength to quickly move in all directions. I guess the negative is that RR most certainly will put on a full court press to land her. We all know RR is a "man possessed" when it comes to the DS/L positions.

Should be a good student in the classroom.

If you are a PAC 12 Channel subscriber, you can go through the website, log in and watch it on the Bay Area feed I believe. Here in the midwest, I am able to watch almost every match either on the primary channel feed or by going through the website when it is not the main game that is on. Of course I will be leaving around 1:00 today for Iowa State as this is as close as they have gotten to us for the last three years. Headed on over to Lincoln for the Sunday match as well. Some great games right out of the chute. Should be exciting, regardless of outcome.
