This is an educated guess, but with all the talent, I think Hambly will rest Plummer some (whole sets or partial sets), especially against weak opponents, and he'll use McClure in the back row a lot as a sub for Kipp. McClure willl get some rotations in the front row when Stanford is rolling their opponent. This strategy as whole keeps Kipp and Plummer fresher for the NCAA tournament. McClure will be around in 2020, so keeping her locked and loaded could yield dividends down the road too. Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised at all if McClure/Baird are the OH duo, and Kipp slots at OPP in 2020. But we shall see what Hambly does with the overflow of talented players in 2019 Agreed Disc, I was going to post yesterday about potential lineups for 2020/21, and I had Kipp at OPP and McClure/Baird at OH for 2020. Replace McClure with Berty for 2021.

There is going to be an odd woman out next year on the farm. She’s too good to even throw in the thought of red shirting The issue is Stanford has 3 All American pin hitters already .... Plummer is a lock, Fitz may as well be a lock too unless Hambly moves her back to middle over Campbell but I’m not sure if he’s willing to do that, and McClure’s much improved season is not making things any easier. Fitz to middle would make more sense if Gates didn’t grad transfer in, but I don’t think its a likely scenario regardless. A nice problem to have but yeet good luck to the coaching staff

Yeah...feel Kevin is capable enough somehow to figure out how to manage a plethora of riches. A need for overspeculation, invented drama and supposed "issues" here seems to have overridden some basic tenets of successful coaching, in some posters' eyes. A quality HC does not let their players -- not to mention VTers -- influence any decision based upon the greater good of the team. Even John Dunning ( Dunning!) made a radical change during the 2016 season; shifting from a 6-2 with Kelsey Humphries and Jenna...to a 5-1 w/ Gray...with Humphries becoming a very important DS and Senior leader. If Kipp is that great, I'd envision a scenario akin to what Hammer has stated. McClure (one of my favorites) is mature enough to comprehend/accept doing whatever for any betterment of the team!

Anxiously waiting for the release of the 2019 season schedule. When do they usually release it? They can't release it until the Pac-12 gives the ok, or at least that's the way it has been working. The Pac-12 wants to coordinate the release of all schedules simultaneously on their website. Of course, we can piece together Stanford's preseason schedule by looking at other teams websites. Here's what we know so far: @ Florida, Wed Sept 4 Texas, Sat Sept 7 @ Penn St, Fri Sept 13 Minnesota, Sat Sept 14 (neutral @ Penn St) @ Nebraska, Wed Sept 18 Since the Card played at BYU last year, I suspect BYU might pay a visit to Maples this year. That would be two home matches before Pac-12 play. Usually Stanford plays approx 8 preseason opponents, so that leaves at least two others we don't know when or where. Officially from the BYU schedule, BYU @ Stanford Sept. 21.

Usually we play 9 non conference games so one more the BYU weekend and 2 last weekend in August. My thought at least.

August 30/31 and Sept 1 still open -- I suspect Stanford either plays a local CA tournament (St. Mary's, UOP, Cal Poly, UCSB, etc) or runs their own.

Sorry this is the one I meant to share.. Hmm..For only the second time in my 1 1/2 years posting on VT, I looked at an incoming recruit's Youtube vid (used to do such for a living - as part of my duties - as an AC: my aversion being part post-coaching burnout; part deja vu). WOW, this young woman has got hops! She has pretty awesome fundies re: approach; her serve-receive incorporates a solidly stable, flat, calm platform; her platform angle-control while passing is good; can hit x-court and line with seemingly equal proficiency; her energy/ team spirit is definitely contagious; and MAN, can she terminate! Now I see why hammer and others are so high on her. Also, there's a quite thin girl, wearing #15, who's pretty tall & gangly: yet shows some potential (I do believe an MB). Any idea who the kid is? Anyway, Meghan may be moving!

Did not know anything 'bout TX ST.; looked it up and saw it is in the Sun Belt Conference (FBS). A D1 scholarship? Not Bad.

Not Bad. Texas State cracked my Top 25 in weeks 13 & 14. In final week, they didn't make the cut; although I can't remember what my reasoning was, as losing to Texas @texas should not count harshly against you. I'm sure my reasoning was brilliant.

As long as Texas St is Moving Fast (like those teams in the AAC), I'm good with it.

When I googled "TX St." on my computer, an entry on the 1st search-menu page had an article about the AAC/Sun Belt Conferences finalizing a media deal w/ ESPN for a number of years. Moving Fast indeed!

Moving Fast indeed! Don't know much about those conferences either, but Connecticut landed in the AAC a few years back as part of that ridiculous football-driven conference restructuring; I suspect espn is mostly interested in their basketball teams, particularly the women's team that has dominated the sport for the last decade and a half or so.They've had virtually no competition in conference, but it does seem to be bringing up the overall level of play.
