I think it is a great idea to have three color schemes for the uniforms, with Cardinal red as the highlight color and white, black and grey as the background accent schemes. My favorite combo is the red and black for competitive athletics and achievement on court. If one gets into the meaning and effects of colors on the unconscious mind, and all successful athletes must synchronize conscious and unconscious minds in the moment to optimize performance, the red and black are symbols of power, control, success and achievement in the world and all the psychospiritual qualities we associate with that process: drive, determination, endurance, long-suffering, patience, mastery, the will to dominate and focus in a one pointed manner. We see that color scheme exploited in the color schemes of Star Wars ( 'Darth Vader, The Empire, the Sith colors, the red light sabers, the planet Mustafar, Mustafa in Lion King played the father and power figure for Simba/and voiced Darth Vader as well) . In movies like 'V for Vendetta' or those that portray Nazi themes generally use those classic colors of red and black. While white is the angelic wholeness/goodness/etc that is black's opposite (good and evil, white and black), grey is where humanity lives in the balance and there are far more than 50 shades, metaphorically at least. Like the Hegelian dialectic of thesis/antithesis and synthesis, the choice of grey can symbolize many things, perhaps the proper balance between winning at all cost and seeking to win with all factors in balance. Perhaps the structure of of color balance can be modified to match the current consciousness of fans and players, but overall it is an interesting color choice and to my aesthetic taste, a beautiful one as well. But as they say, 'Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder' and what that viewer is able to comprehend of the potential meanings behind the image. To quote William Blake, "The eye altering, alters all. As a man is, so he sees. As the eye is formed, such are its powers. If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would to appear to man as it is, infinite. The man who never alters his own opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind ....... The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way (Think Stanford Tree). Some see nature all ridicule and deformity, some scare see nature at all. But to the eyes of a man of imagination, nature is imagination itself. A fool sees not the same tree that the wise man sees ....... but the fool who persists in his folly will become wise. Imagination is the real and eternal world of which this vegetable universe is but a faint shadow. Art is the tree of life. Science is the tree of death. To see the world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower. Hold infinity in the palms of your hand, and eternity in an hour." I think there is symbolic wisdom and visual beauty in this new color scheme ( and we learned from Van Gogh about the power of quantized color in to form to convey energy and meaning long before Einstein introduced a new way of seeing light, energy and quantized forms to our modern world). I also happen to think that Stanford's adoption of the Tree as its mascot and now as part of its logo, is a symbolic representation of the spiritual transformation and growth that is occurring on campus and also a microcosm of whats happening in the global community.

color *is* important. I would ask which uniform makes the players feel most confident. \

Yes, William Blake inspired Aldous Huxley (The Perennial Philosophy, Doors of Perception) which inspired the psychedelic world of the 60's, which inspired Jim Morrison's creation of the DOORS ('Light My Fire', 'Break on Through to the Otherside'), IRON BUTTERFLY('Flowers & Beads', 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida', 'It must Be Love'), LOVE('Orange Skies', 'Colored Balls Falling, '7 & 7 Is', 'Signed D C'), THE 5th DIMENSION ('Stoned Soul Picnic', 'Aquarious/Let the Sun Shine In', 'Up, Up and Away') and many others, including the BEATLES('Across the Universe', 'Within and Without' and of course 'Lucy and the Sky with Diamonds'). Stanislof Grof, the current living expert on therapeutic use of psychedelics in psychotherapy, especially LSD, which may come back into medical use for specific uses in the newest DSM classification, wrote a book titled, "Beyond the Brain", now that was a mind blowing revelation. He currently uses holotropic breathing to bring clients into altered states of consciousness where healing of dysfunctional, archetypal patterns occur. Others are using light, sound and color to entrap brainwaves into lower frequencies that have a profound hypnotic and therapeutic effect, especially bring parasympathetic/sympathetic balance back to the body.(see Dr. Jeffrey Thompson-Center for Neuroacoustic Research). To quote William Blake one last time, "What is now proved was once only imagined. In the universe, there are things are known and things that are unknown, and in between, there are doors. I see the Past, Present and Future existing at once before me." (DR Bradford Skow, an Associate Professor in Philosophy at MIT has proposed a block theory of the universe, where past, present and future all exist simultaneously, in his book, 'Objective Becoming'). Let me end with a quote from the great German philosopher, Arthur Schpenhauer, "Every man takes the limits of his own vision for the limits of the world. All truth passes through three stages: First it is ridiculed; Second it is violently opposed; Thirdly, it is accepted as self evident."
I would agree with the comment about being conscious of how the colors make the players feel and play, but this changes from day to day and game to game. Thus coaches who are engaged with the team, who have shown the ability to lead and even win a national championship, or championships depending on the specific coach, should show flexibility in their choice of jerseys and pay attention to the results. If one looks into the background of the number 3, both its exoteric and esoteric meanings and its associations with the Divine in almost all religions, in its characterization of man as a body-mind-spirit, man's mind as a subconscious-conscious-superconscious mind, etc, etc etc , it stands to reason that three might be a functional and effective number of color combinations, that energizes and effects the team's play. Each combo will have a different effect on the team and I for one, think this coaching staff have the operational intelligence and requisite empathy to utilize color as another tool in their coaching armamentarium.

I cannot possibly read those posts! Just kills my eyes.
But, what's with the 'putty' colored jerseys this year? I'm a little undecided about those. Also, "Cardinal" red seems to be taking some liberties and drifting towards a light brick color.

A good look at Hambly's coaching. He is more of a motivational coach during the game. I didn't see any tactical in this VDO. Fun watch to see this piece.

It’s a bit surprising that Kipp replaced McClure, not Fitz during the Texas match — based from Fitz’s performance the past few matches.
Part of me thinks Hambly might be looking at Kipp to replace the production of Plummer as an OH next season - and not Fitz/Opp.
Hambly does like his OHs take a lot of swings and a potential Baird/McClure pair next season looks a bit underwhelming.
Are we going to see Kipp/Baird in the OH with either Fidelak/Berty in the opposite?
