Couple of corrections since we are going in to such detail here... Roger did take over the board from ModJoe as a favor and ran the 24/7 board for much longer than a few months. Just for the record, I stated a few months, since I was going to 24/7 for about a year before Roger made it known he had taken over for ModJoe for a while then. I wasn't quite sure exactly when Roger took over 24/7. So I went with when he publicly mentioned it. Just thought I'd clear that up. If anything, Odin might want to get more volunteered help for the women's section, since, I think Doppelganger is the only assigned monitor there now.

For the record, that is not accurate. I am one of at least 4 "sub"-moderators.
Somebody also mentioned remuneration in this thread. I am assuming that was a joke. There is no money in moderating this forum.
And I still contend we would receive more flak than compliments for any additional moderation. But maybe I'm wrong.

Other than that, besides you, Odin is the only one that does that. What are the handles of the other 3 for the women's board?

VT Five-O and VFTD are also moderating.
I may be mistaken about the 4th. He/she may have retired. I don't see any recent activity.

Like I mentioned, it seems only you and Odin have been moderating the women's board. Perhaps Odin should re-consider those 2 you mentioned.

This thread was never meant to diminish the work of the moderator and I fully realize that the moderators are doing this out of their sheer interest and for that I commend you all for immensely and I appreciate your work. However, I disagree with your contention that you'd receive flak for any further moderation. Honestly, I think the current level of moderation is unnoticeable to the average poster and what this forum may have gained in terms of traffic numbers and hits, it has definitely lost in terms of the quality of its content. With the proliferation of volleyball websites and forums, VT is gonna have to do something at some point to keep its competitive edge. Moderators have a stake in the site in that sense. I'd be really interested in hearing what Roger has to say about the current state of the forum.

5 biggest issues with the current state of VT and events that have occurred in the recent (3-4 years or less) past:
1. Rampant homerism by so-called "fans" of particular programs (i.e. Hawaii, Nebraska, Penn State, Washington, USC, etc.). It's okay to support your program. It is NOT OKAY to make stupid, ridiculous claims. It is also not okay to overreact when someone criticizes some technical flaw or weakness of your favorite team or the athletes that play on that team.
2. People who want to be "internet VT famous" or "one-up" everyone else on the board by posting information about a particular program or athletes on that program on PERSONAL ISSUES. Might make you feel good, but you're an idiot if you are using your position or relationship to any NCAA, high school,or JO club program (parent, coach, friend of friend of someone, booster club member, etc.) as a means to come on this forum and post inappropriate content. If the school or club didn't issue a press release on it, then you don't need to be the first person on here to spill the beans about someone's DUI or flunking out of school last semester.
3. Related to #2 - don't come here seeking advice for your dirty laundry. Man up and deal with it through the proper channels. If your daughter isn't getting the superstar status at University of UberTalentedVolleyballPlayersBetterThanYourDaughterEverWillBe, then go discuss it with the coaching staff. Don't come whine on here. Daughter wants to transfer because she hates the coach and he/she is so unfair to her? We don't care.
4. A Moderator and subadmins who have, in the past, been guilty of #'s 1-3 on this list. How in the world it could ever be a good idea to have these people moderating VT is beyond me. In some cases, these were the people posting information to the general public on this forum that had no bearing to the actual volleyball, and were little more than gossip tidbits meant to show the poster's own "inside connection" to a particular program. And now some of these people are moderating? Oh yeah, good job on that one.
5. A lack of moral courage. Moderator and subadmins here have deleted/moved posts because of personal tastes or (in the case of the political forum) personal beliefs. They have also banned and/or threatened people with their "warning" system based on personal feelings and not on actual principle. Also, when posts are made on a controversial subject, and someone contacts them and threatens them with legal action, they immediately panic and delete EVERYTHING. Think about it first. This is a free internet message board, a bunch of anonymous people posting opinions. What the heck could they actually take you to court for?

People can make all the ridiculous claims they want to make. It's fine if you think they are being ridiculous, but you have no right to tell them to shut up. I admit, the level of discourse drops when people start gushing too much, but almost always the most effective way to handle that is to just ignore them. The only action should be to lock topics if there are 10 different "XXX is awesome" threads for the same XXX at one time.

A perfect example is the current thread regarding the advertisement of Electronic Vertec Training Tester that has the exact same thread posted across all three volleyball boards which clearly go against the VolleyTalk guidline:
Advertising or soliciting members to buy, sell or peruse any products or services through this discussion forum is not permitted. Chain letters and junk mail are also strictly prohibited. Topics/posts that contain this will be edited and locked or deleted.
While it may not be a huge deal, the fact that all three threads have been permitted to remain demonstrate the lack of oversight.

I think this is the first time I checked the board in 5 or 6 months. I love history threads. I know everything. Lately, I've been extremely busy with "stuff" and have almost forgotten about this forum. Right now, I'm in the middle of writing my thesis so that occupies 90% of my mental space. 10% is dedicated to food, water, and sleep.

Couple of corrections since we are going in to such detail here... There was originally a different board run by ModJoe before 24/7. It evolved into 24/7. Roger did take over the board from ModJoe as a favor and ran the 24/7 board for much longer than a few months. He did look for a better system and decided on proboards. The majority of posters were actually reluctant to change but it did turn out for the better. When Roger decided it was too much work to moderate this board, he asked for applicants to take over. He ended up tentatively deciding to hand it over to one of the boards most prolific posters even though he had reservations because that particular poster had been famous for trolling at times and had even been suspended as a poster. That person lived on this board and seemed like a good choice because he was very knowledgeable about the sport and spent most of his time here. The new moderator got other regular posters to help moderate the board. The board changed immediately under new moderation and Roger even posted at one point that he regretted the choice he made to hand it over to this new person. Odin did do better over time and did institute some very good changes to the format. The traffic to this board has probably increased astronomically which may explain a lot of the nonsense we now have to shift through and the new problems facing the moderator. IMO, the moderation over the last couple of few years leaves a lot to be desired and there definitely is a much different feel to the board. GSOBB is correct that it may be due to the moderator having a life now and not spending as much time on the board. I still agree with the original post that the board could be better regulated. ___ Who?...should adhere to the Terms and Conditions??? Read more: volleytalk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=FAQ2&action=display&thread=20664#ixzz1KmeT7NGt___ & We certainly don't want ANY in the handbasket.
