I'm getting pretty sucked in to this. Did the same when Charles and Diana were married. Sentimental, I guess.
Just found out Prince William's last name: Mountbatten-Windsor
I never remember Diana being called Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, but I guess that was her name and the name Katherine will assume.
Not real sure what the Royal Family does or what "power" they have, but they sure can spend the pounds.

The British royals are actually a part of the house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. They changed it to Windsor during the first world war in order to disassociate from their German past, since the Brits were at war with the Germans.
Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, William's grandfather, adopted the surname of Mountbatten from his mother's family in 1947, although he is a member of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.
An awful lot of bright hues in the wedding, bright reds and blues. Couldn't they have gone for more earth tones?

First Michael Scott leaves "The Office" and now this wedding. I've been boo hooing for hours. I thought Kate's dress was ;D . Yet, rather simple, compared to Diana's mounds of fabric. Loved it. Yes, lots of bright colors - even the Queen in yellow. The millinery (hat people) made a fortune! Hoping I can get some souveniers at 1/2 off when I'm there in 3 weeks.

Why anyone cares about this drivel, or about "The Real Retarded Housewives of ____________ " , or those nitwit Kardashians, is beyond me.
With three women in my house watching this crap all the time......I think I'm going to lose my marbles.
Thank God for the Golf Channel (except when that moron Trump is on).

"Golf is a good walk spoiled." Mark Twain “Golf is so popular simply because it is the best game in the world at which to be bad.” A. A. Milne “Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.” Winston Churchill Minister during World War II. 1874-1965 “Golf is a game in which you yell "Fore!", shoot six, and write down five” Paul Harvey “Golf is a game in which the slowest people in the world are those in front of you, and the fastest are those behind”

Will Rogers was an early aviation enthusiast. A congressman once told him that he would die someday if he kept flying in airplanes. Will replied that the congressman was going to die trying to hit a golf ball. (Sadly, Will did die in an airplane crash. No word on the congressman.)

I didn’t watch any coverage of the Royal Wedding but couldn’t help seeing a few highlights on the news channels. Some of those women wore really crazy hats. They looked like they were dressing as space aliens for a Halloween party. Maybe this was my ignorance of couture fashion in high society circles.
It was amazing how many female employees called in sick at work today. I think this event was primarily a chick thing.

I guess the British Monarchy is becoming a touch more progressive. And I was thinking they just went out on the balcony for a "Royal Kiss."

I worked for a British consulting firm right out of grad school and saw more silly hats during those four years than I've seen during the rest of my life.

Those hats worn at the Royal Wedding were quite tamed compared to what one would see at a Kentucky Derby for instance.
