IPFW Picked as the 2007 MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division Preseason Favorite
IPFW has three preseason All-Conference selections, Loyola, Ohio State and Ball State have two each
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- IFPW has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Shondell/Dunlap Division of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association by a vote of the division coaches. The Mastodons finished second last year in the regular season and won the MIVA Tournament to advance to the NCAA Championship. Ohio State was picked to finish second, Loyola third and Ball State fourth. Lewis was picked fifth, Quincy sixth and Mercyhurst seventh to round out the voting.
The coaches also selected the 2007 MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division preseason All-Conference Team comprised of nine players and a libero. Five squads are represented on the team with IFPW having three players with Loyola, Ohio State and Ball State having two teach and Lewis one. Voted to the team from IPFW were C.J. Macias, Colin Lundeen and Jost Stewart. Named from Loyola were James Grunst and Brian Guntli and from Ohio State, Dan Mathews and John Albertson. Ball State’s Nick Meyer and Ian Peckler were named to the team as was Jared Dayton from Lewis.
Non-conference matches in the MIVA being Friday, Jan. 5 when Ohio State hosts MSOE. Shondell/Dunlap Division play begins Friday, Jan. 19 when Loyola hosts IPFW and Mercyhurst plays at Lewis.
