WHAT is the damn infatuation with playing these U.S. matches in the Pacif NW and Mid-West portion of the U.S. The National Team is now in So. Cal and you'd never know it since they NEVER play any matches here.

It works out for me with one in Chicago but it is Japan, who I saw this past summer, who will be here. I guess I will have to travel to Minneapolis again to see the matches against France.
It would have been great for me to have Italy in Chicago and France in Minneapolis.
At least Southern Cal gets to watch the team practice but I am sure they would have loved to have one of the matches there...

Ok I might've missed USA vs. Serbia & Montenegro last summer in Spokane, but I'm definitely gonna plan a trip from Vancouver to Portland to see USA vs. Italy. The last time they played in Athens, a brawl almost broke out during the post-game handshake.

I feel the same way about the Canadian National Team playing every friggin match in Manitoba it seems (though that's a different scenario, since our Training Centre IS actually in Manitoba). We hardly get to see any matches in BC, Canada. I'm much more likely to drive down to Portland to see USA vs. Italy, than to take an airplane to see Canada vs. Brazil, Korea, Finland.

For those of you frustrated with where the World League matches are being played in the US should not blame USA Volleyball. You need to place the blame on your local convention & visitor's and/or sports authority. The organizations are the ones who secure, promote, and run these events...your local USA Volleyball region has little to do with it other than organizing some local staff for the event (ball shaggers, etc).
It usually costs a city a lot of money to host a World League match without any guarantee of making a penny so it's not very lucrative for most.

Echoing the statement from USAV, the teamsters also make it more costly. The unions are not as emanding in these towns. If the matches were in major cities (NY, LA, SF, Dallas, etc) the number may be astronomically high.

I believe the matches in Minn coincide with the USA Nats being held there at same time. That is a good move. Should get some nice exposure to some youth players.
