15 Men's Volleyball Opens Season on Winning Note
The Patriots defeated visiting Ball State, 3-1.

Fairfax, Va.--Two players tallied double figure kills to help lead #15 George Mason University's men's volleyball team to a 3-1 (24-30, 30-21, 30-19, 30-28) victory over Ball State Friday evening at John Linn Gym in the Patriots' opening match of the 2007 campaign. With this win, Mason is now 1-0 on the year, while the Cardinals fall to 1-3 overall. After falling short in the first game, the Patriots took over and claimed the next three games over the Cardinals. Mason redshirt oppotsite hitter freshman William Price (Laytonsville, Md.) tallied a team-high 27 kills and finished with a hitting percentage of .358, while teammate Hudson Bates (Jr.; Richmond, Va.) collected 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .364. Senior libero Graham Sheppard (Midlothian, Va.) amassed a team-high eight digs, while Price finished with a match-best three service aces. Ball State senior Nick Meyer set a new career-high in kills with 30 to end with a hitting percentage of .521, while senior libero Ian Peckler finished with a match-best 11 digs.
Mason garnered a hitting percentage of .339 on the match, after hitting zero percent in the opening game of the night. In comparison, the Cardinals finished with a hitting percentage of .287.
