As I understand it these were settled on over the past week with a bunch of phone calls, which is what has to be done with so little interleague play. Basically gives "a flavor" the word was.
The next ratings will have a chance of reflecting more reality...some out of conference play will have big impacts, as well as a number or conference matches will have taken place beyond the upsets already registered this week.
Wish there was a way for weekly rankings....

It appears that a bit more thought went into this year's 'preseason' rankings versus last year (which as I recall stayed pretty true to the final results at nationals the year before). In particular, Maryland dropped some slots, and that makes sense since they lost their big hitter (or two?). Also, Penn State gets acknowledged for winning the big fall tourney at MSU. Upcoming tournaments will of course shake this out.

So there they are, now starts the talk of who moves up and down. Any predictions who moves out of the top 5 and who moves up in the top 10 in the next month?

I dont know if there will be much movement out of the top five. All 5 of those teams will be at Hoosier-Illini and will probably only move around in the top 5 after they beat each other up. Marquette will contend for a top 5 ranking with a strong performance at HI. And there will be at least three ranked teams that absolutely tanks at HI. There is just so many powerful squads there its inevitable. 7 out of the top 10 are there, 13 out of the top 25, If I were to pick one, Penn State will probably be the odd team out of the 5, but I havent seen Arizona, and like I said before their big outside is great so who knows. I CANT WAIT FOR HI.

I would look at 3 teams to move up...Michigan State, Marquette, and Indiana. Teams that I think can fall...Penn State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M. No real info on why I think these teams can fall but the best can crumble at that tourney...

I believe both Texas A&M and Colorado will be replacing senior setters this year.

In the long run these rankings don't mean a whole lot except for National seedings. Anybody in the top ten can beat anybody. All you have to do is make it to gold division and see what happens.
