This was easily the best looking match from UCLA this year. They looked like a cohesive unit, far improved from Wednesday and much better from last week. Serving was outstanding. Middle play was great. UH looked better Wednesday. They served a bit better but their overall game was anemic tonight. That Clar is a great player. He is very difficult to stop, from the front and the back row. uclabruins.cstv.com/sports/m-volley/recaps/020307aaa.html

Hakala just needs to get used to the left-side position, but apparently he's not adjusting fast enough or good enough. Remember Wilton switched his best player (Delano Thomas) from the middle to OH one year and Hawaii looks to repeat that year as well.

Jonathon Acosta for the Bruins tried to play with an abdomen problem and it was really tough. That's such a difficult injury with which to play well. You just can't perform the magic with that. Hope he gets better.

It sucks that hakala is hurt right now.. Especially with the line up change that went on.. I'm sorry but hawaii is in TROUBLE.. Ok, well i pose this question... What happened to Cervantes? He played well all pre-season and the regular season games. Did he get thrown off the team? Is he Ineligible? Is he the one that italianmattd mention about being gone already?

I think Hawaii could be in a lot of trouble this year, but if everything clicks, they could be dangerous. Maybe not "UCLA 2006 dangerous" where they can get hot to win the national title, but dangerous to take out an upper seed early in the MPSF tournament. Cervantes is still on the roster, but I think it is just a matter that he got beat out by Kalima. Kalima trained mainly as a libero for the first most of his college career and while he was considered an outside hitter, his main focus was on passing. Not a big deal that he beat out Cervantes.

move hakala back to opp -- all he does when in the front row is to try and hit cross court and the opponent knows that and he gets blocked -- try watch next time brah!!
