Bruins Sweep Cardinal as Home Stand Ends UCLA extends winning streak to four matches.
Eighth-ranked UCLA evened its conference record and won its fourth straight league match by sweeping visiting Stanford on Saturday night.
The Bruins won 30-25, 30-28, 34-32 in 89 minutes before 636 in Pauley Pavilion. With the victory, the Bruins raised their record to 7-6 overall and 5-5 in league play. Stanford fell to 1-13, 1-8.
Four Bruins recorded double-digit kills, led by senior Paul George's 16 (.667). Senior Steve Klosterman added 14 kills (.400), followed by 13 from Garrett Muagututia and 12 from Jamie Diefenbach (.450).
Matt Ceran led the Cardinal with 18 kills (.355), followed by 10 from Even Romero (.233).
The Bruins hit the road next week, visiting Pacific on Feb. 16 and Stanford on Feb. 17.

Stanford hit a solid .323 in tonight's loss at Pauley Pavilion, however UCLA's balanced attack, which hit .379, proved too much for the Cardinal to handle, as they were swept by the Bruins, completing a 0-2 weekend in southern California. The loss drops the Cardinal to 1-13, 1-8 MPSF, while the Bruins improved to 7-6, 5-5 MPSF.
Stanford was led by senior Matt Ceran with 18 kills on .355 hitting. Freshman Evan Romero had 10 kills, while sophomore Brandon Williams added 9 more kills for the Cardinal, hitting .500. The Bruins had four players with double-digit kills.
Up next the Cardinal return home for a rematch of this weekend's competition against UC Irvine and UCLA to complete the first half of conference play on February 16 and 17.
